More than 2-weeks into this virus craze. Only 0.0003% of the county population has it. Amazing. This is what we wrecked our economy for.

or perhaps look at it the other way. Maybe we wrecked the economy so that only a small portion of the population got it. An economy can be fixed, you can't bring back someones grandma or uncle that might have died should we have done nothing.

Hmmmm....

How come last year you weren't worried about the anties and uncles dying from the flu? Especially since those numbers are much much higher.

I suspect it's because tv and facebook didn't tell you to.

Serious question — are you two separate people sharing one account? Or maybe two separate people sharing one body?

You have gone from being a flu bro, to a chicken little, and now back to a flu bro. Pick an extreme and stick to it! Or better yet, find a middle road.

Tell me a flu out there that kills 8-11% of people who test positive like in Italy and Spain.

I'll wait.....

Doesn’t that say something about Italy and Spain’s healthcare?

In the US the flu takes more lives, but please tell me how it doesn’t. I’ll wait...

Yeah the fact that no other country seems to have rates even near theirs makes me wonder what the @#$@ those countries are doing. I thought this below was interesting, helps explain some reasoning. Again stop throwing out a % and imply it can just be applied the same to every person. 3% mortality rate does not mean 30 out of every 1000 random people will die. Expose 1000 elderly and high risk it is going to be much higher than 3%, expose only those under 30 and it might be zero.

i think their problems are probably more about their way of life. the chinese were already deluged with sickness even before anyone in italy or spain took it seriously.

that, and they are typically unwashed and not as uber hygienic compared to most north americans (mexico, the States, Canada).

Instead of waiting for me you should learn basic math.

"People who test positive" are the operative words here. The rate is calculated by number of deaths / number of people who test positive. If a country tests a lot, then the denominator is larger and the rate is much lower. Conversely, if the denominator is small (for example a country only tests the most severely sick because there aren't enough tests) then the rate is much higher.

The actual rate, across all infected is more like .66%. And that's probably an overestimate since over half of those infected are asymptomatic.
