Don’t believe anyone has argued against that, but I do find humor in your 180 doomsday attempt/s. It’s right up there with thinking soothing words would solve a pandemic.

Being positive and realistic are two different things.

You are also confusing reality with negativity. It’s a reality that nobody is going to like.
The problem with someone like you is you don't understand perspective. We are in a very difficult situation. Maybe look at things more positively sometimes for balance. Geez, you are the most negative person I every read on here.

well, i have had a theory about that person for a few days now. i shouldnt say, because, well, i dont know him. he could be an OK dude.

but what the hay...here goes:

he DELIGHTS in this because he is mildly one of those people that just do not like the greater majority. he harbors disdain for his country, like a lot of Americans do, for some reason (strange, since we are all overfed, over-entertained, and have a quality of life that exceeds what i remember in the late 1970s, and way beyond what some of our parents had 15-20 years before THAT)....he feels slighted for whatever reason...mabye because he is black, i suppose. he does not like people he does not know - one of those individuals that wages war on the road (i may have been like that - like 30 years ago, though), gets uncomfortable having to wait to use a door at the sheetz.....

a redneck, in other words.

but he is clever. not an unintelligent person - no way. obviously, thinks through situations and offers his thoughts on them, whether you agree with his conclusions or not. he tones down the rhetoric, but its evident he still gets his jabs in - his overemphasis on FAILINGS, and no celebration of any positives (like the # of cases declining in Allegheny County for 3 days...)

or, maybe I am totally wrong.

He’s simply a former poster that hates the area. He did a total 180 when the effects of playing down the virus didn’t work on the other thread.

Fixed you up. I have never met more negative people than the left. Wow, they are all depressed.

This may be the one time Pittsburgh would wish it was in a totally different state than Philly and embrace being a middle America city. Now you see the initial benefits of being in middle America. The eastern and western cities along with coasts aren’t the place the to be right now.
I agree with you - this isn't the end. We need to see where we're at in another two weeks.
And how dare you question the unimpeachable benefits of urban density, didn't you get the memo of how much better the world would be if we all lived on top of each other like cockroaches so that we could ride our bikes everywhere - look at the world today, there are no downsides to such a lifestyle!

On a global scale:

World population: around 7.8 billion people
Total coronavirus cases: slightly over 800,000 or slightly higher than .01%
Deaths due to this virus: Less than 39,000 or around .0005% of the population.

For some perspective:

Auto deaths globally is around 1.25 million a year. Not sure if this virus will surpass that number in deaths? It has a long way to go.

Flu deaths around the world are from 290,000 to 650,000 per year.
