Either one, but I’m sure you wouldn’t bet on either.

Anyone you asked would laugh hysterically at either happening.

The only thing I’m betting on is oil and gas stocks rising again.

So many ideas and “may” and “but” and that’s all you’re supposedly betting on?

April 15...cases reported from last 21 days, starting with most distant:

45, 25, 61, 46, 25, 35, 31, 63, 57, 76, 53, 37, 47, 31, 39, 29, 48, 21, 19, 15, 11

This daily tally I post comes from the Post-Gazette, which runs its reporting article after 11AM - so the numbers might differ slightly from what is seen on the 6PM news.

What is frustrating is that the numbers continue to inflate in some states.

Sadly, the first City employee death was reported - a garbage collector.

Overall, daily numbers in our country are declining - they continue to rise in Mexico and Canada.

But only 45 in 3 days for Allegheny County - that is at least something to be happy about.
TEAM FITZGERALD!

Those numbers seem promising with daily new cases dropping but the test counts have been low. Is this because less people are getting tested? Less people need tested? Testing backlog? I can't trust any numbers anymore.

Welcome to the East coast!

So, while our state legislature passed a bill to reopen, which will likely be vetoed, the governor of another state announced an extension of our closure to May 15?!

We will not be ready as a state to reopen May 1. Even if the curve keeps bending, we need to set up a regional "test and trace" system. This requires ramping up testing significantly so that everyone who has COVID-like symptoms or was exposed can get testing (in a lot of areas people with mild symptoms are still turned away), along with building a bureaucracy to trace contacts. Possibly software development if we want to go the phone app route for tracing suggested by Google/Apple. This may be possible - barely - in four weeks, but it's not possible in two.

Reopen on May 1, that all depends on how you define it. There are plenty of jobs that should be reopened that can have limited or no contact and also have safety precautions implemented. They have had over a month to think this through and figure it out. No, not everything could reopen but what about outdoor work that is able to social distance (landscapers are considered ok right now)? What about house painters, contractors, paving, mapping, flooring, and many others. What about 1 on 1 consultations that are able to occur with social distancing and extra precautions in a sterile environment? If these items were such a major risk to the spread then all current retail should be closed. Target had over 280 people in the store last weekend and lines outside.

Plus Wolf closed the state by county why not reopen it the same. Seems some areas are less of an issue than others.

The general problem is that everything we have done has slowed down - but not completely eliminated - the spread of COVID-19. If you ease restrictions, the rate will rise again to some degree, particularly in absence of a test-and-trace system which can determine who was exposed and order them to self-quarantine before they get symptoms. And it will take around two weeks to both determine how much the easing has increased the spreading, and to change course and tamp down as needed. So we might end up thinking we didn't have a big issue initially, but ultimately 10% daily case growth (higher than now, but lower than when everything is open) leads to 279% more cases in two weeks.
