I joke that San Diego has more Mexican Flavor than Puerto Penasco which is Arizona with a Mexico address. Now San Felipe and San Carlos different story

Not every Zonie has to have loads of cash to enjoy Diego. Many inexpensive hotels from Hotel Circle east to El Cajon. Love the cool water. Separates the men from the boys.

LOL I can't tell you how many times I've been called that in mission beach, CA. I do understand why they get upset. We go to San Diego in hoards, just about every other person is wearing an ASU or U of A tank top or shirt. We bring our Arizona flags or stuednts/graduates of U of A/ASU bring their school flags to fly in front of the houses they rent out, and we make a lot of noise/cause a lot of traffic. I don't blame em for refering to us as Zonies

Haha. Too true. And PP is hot in summer too. It is so nice to step out of the hotel in the morning in SD and feel the cool maritime air.

and then we have the nerve to complain about snowbirds making us wait at our favorite chain restaurant.

We go to Newport Beach, too many Arizonans in San Diego.

My in-laws live in Newport in the CdM area. CdM beach is nice but sometimes on the peninsula it feels like "bring your own thug" day, especially by the wedge. It is a great area though and has better restaurant offerings than SD. I prefer Laguna down the road for a calmer beach environment, walkable city and great dining/drinking options.

Chain restaurants are a good way to contain snowbirds. Like a moth to a porch light. Build a Lubys and then you can go anywhere else!

Know a few who swear by PP vs SD due to their love to fish. The monthly rate at the RV park east of Old Town on the water only $450 a month . All of Cortez has lovely sunsets and can see why they prefer it to Diego. Personally as stated the crisp water and crashing waves is my preference and also have grown to enjoy East County also known as The Mountain Empire for camping.

Zonies tend to focus on PB , MB , OB and Coronado. However places like Scripps in La Jolla and points north like Encinitas and Cardiff far fewer. There is a spike in Carlsbad however for Zonies. Oside has a couple good RV parks 1000 ft from Buccaneer Beach for $80 a night...Paradise by the Sea and Oceanside RV Park. I cherish october to april in Diego because I can handle the 60 degree water being from NY originally.
