Pretty much, but Phoenix is probably the best suburb for most items

Again, this while thing is silly as the entire metro shares so much in common. To read all these posts trying to differentiate between tract stucco homes, chain restaurants, sprawl, etc is just a joke. The entire metro is designed like this by and large.

I'm sure it is a large part of the reason why many of us live here, the mix of suburban comforts with urban opportunities and entertainment

Yep.

It's certainly not urban. Therefore, it is suburban.

Escape? LOL you're one of the few who has moved from PHX to LA, it's usually the opposite.
As someone who splits his time between LA and PHX, I can definitly say LA IS a suburb too, don't kid yourself.

Choosing a nicer suburb is hardly "vain". I am the furthest thing from wealthy, but chose Scottsdale because what it has to offer. Tell me this: when its your time to go, are you going to be happy on your deathbed in Snoozeville, AZ?

On a side note, you said you owned a Porsche? Tell me about that vain thing again?

To me being vain is doing the things others perceive as best even though you don't really agree. Living in Scottsdale just to be in Scottsdale when you are happier in Goodyear to me is vain. Driving a Porsche because you love cars and love the Porsche is not vain. I will be unhappy wherever my deathbed is unless we are talking many years down the road!!! But in my nice quiet hood will work just great when the time arrives. I can afford to live in Scottsdale and still have my current life but have no interest in the increased traffic and extra cost to live the exact same life. I don't eat out, never go to bars, and really just golf everyday and enjoy a leisurely walk each night. My nights out are Pro sporting events, all of which are closer to my house than almost all of Scottsdale. Living there has no interest or benefit to me. Not sure why you can't understand that?? I'm not you. I'm happy it works for you but again this is a personal poll based on the individual.
