While no one should be celebrating, at least we can now recognize that the recent violent crime trends may be beginning to slightly abate from record levels--Philly homicides are down 15% from this time last year:

https://www.phillypolice.com/crime-m...ats/index.html

Let's hope that percentage only continues to grow.

I would love for this trend to continue, but it hasn't even been two days where we have been less than 0% (I last checked on Friday, and we were even to last year). Last year, there must have been a number of murders in the last couple of days that pushed the numbers up. Therefore, there's really nothing to celebrate at all. It's like saying that this weekend's cold weather could mean that climate change is resolving itself.

Next will be the 3 Amigos...Kenney-Krasner-Outlaw taking credit this week for a decline from last year...a record 562.

These stats need to be based on at least 2019 totals as the Floyd Effect hit in June 2020. The question is how long will it take to get to 2019 or event 2013 figures?

Outlaw tried this b.s. claiming homicides were down as the % increase for 1st 1/2 of 2021 were adjusting to the Floyd Effect explosion...then she compared the June 2021 going forward % decrease as the #s adjusted to the June 2020+ explosion as we headed for an all time homicide record.

Then again, Outlaw has job security due to, among other reasons, that she was allegedly in the running for NYPD commissioner...please. Total baloney story.

What specific policies are driving this 2 day decline year over year? Couldn't be a frigid, Nor'easter January weather.

That's exactly what it is. Two extremely cold days. Better to hole up inside so when you put a cap in someone's rear, your fingers aren't too cold. I'm sure they will make up for it though.

I'm sure a key part of leadership's strategy is to hope this whole thing blows over in time.

I don't predict much change until at least after 2023 when a new administration takes over, which could either signal a new positive era or more of the same (depending on who runs and wins).

New data showing that much of the violent crime increase in Philly is being driven by domestic violence, which seems to somewhat counter to widespread assumptions about drug/gang-related violence.

Enforcement of gun relinquishment from domestic abusers really needs to step up big time:

Not a violent crime, but disgusting and all over a piece of steak.

Video captures massive brawl inside Golden Corral in Bensalem, Pa.

On the crime topic, Tuesday in Philly, yet another example of the need for business owners to be armed and citizens generally arming themselves due to crime and fear of it:

This thread is going to be closed for a couple of days due to an overwhelming desire of several posters to just post racist stuff, others jumping in and then a thread hi-jack.
