It's still a violent crime.

I called it non-violent because no one was seriously injured or killed. But yes it potentially could of been much worse. No different then a bar brawl, or even a fist fight between 2 individuals.

Center City:

Juniper and Chancellor, victim died at 13th and Walnut. At least it wasn't 12:30 in the afternoon.
North Philly:

This is what concerns me - that the thugs are just going to shoot first, not giving victims a chance.

That wouldn't happen at 12:30pm in that spot in Center City. Still, it's concerning that there would be a shooting in this area at all, especially 21 shots fired... AND police said there were witnesses. Wild.

Yea that one is disturbing. Clearly a targeted attack.

Not to sound elitist (maybe I am ), but why was this going down at 13th & Walnut? This is the heart of the Gayborhood... did a bunch of gays have beef with each other, or do thugs find it appealing to hangout near Woody's?

Yeah I live like two blocks from it.

Sounds like it was down the alley between the IHOP and Dunkin', that is one I'd personally avoid at night anyway. Also the victim had a large amount of cash on them... that with 21 shots makes me think it's drug-related. Definitely not random.

To your point - it could be a case of gayng violence...

Still a high crime city but has managed to decrease its homicides...just like Philly was doing at the same time until its broken windows/stop-n-frisk policy was derailed by the ACLU...and, well, we are now in a gun violence and homcide crisis, but not according to our DA, despite blowing past our 30 year all time homicide record +62. That's progress Philly style.

Usually it's just homeless druggies, as opposed to anyone I'd think would shoot someone.

Years ago, I walked that stretch with friends when out in the area, it was definitely sketchy, but this kind of shooting is still something. But I still never pictured the Gayborhood as a thug shootout area, but I guess times change, even on a Monday at 1230am.

Also, 21 casings is likely trigger happy youth with no concept of morals or logic.
