I'm pretty excited about this project because I find it so embarrassing to take any out-of-towners through the free interchange between 15th St and and City Hall stations since it looks so awful.
Yeah, it's definitely not an area I like bringing out-of-towners to. It's definitely an eye sore. If the City Hall/15 St reconstruction could look anything like the subway concourses near Dilworth Park then that will surely be an improvement. This move by SEPTA is long overdue.

I will believe it when I see it lol. If we can get movement on this and SLS, 2015/16 will seriously be the years of the ultra hotels in Philadelphia. My fingers are crossed.

Speaking of the Philly 2035 stuff though.. when the hell are they going to install the light masses on North Broad, it looks like the road work and concrete bases are all done.

Oh wow, nice!! That will be great to see it close that gap on Chestnut. I feel like Chestnut as a whole needs quite a bit of TLC. I know it's improving, but so much of it is abandoned buildings or low-quality shops.

Gee. FINALLY! If they start soon, well I suppose it will be Spring, we will have 3 cranes for super talls simultaneously. The new Comcast project, the new Dranoff project at Broad and Spruce, and the W hotel.

And FMC Tower at 30th and Walnut. It is well under construction with a tower crane already up and much taller than both SLS and W hotel.

FMC Tower at Cira Centre South

Because you are new to the city you have no idea, or maybe you recently learned, that Chestnut used to be almost as nice as Walnut years ago. Shopping trends which favored suburban shopping and malls helped kill it. Then there was a bone-headed idea to close it off to vehicular traffic, except busses. No, I'm not kidding; it actually happened back in the 70s. With reduced foot traffic too it went into decay and only now, decades later, is started to recover.

Chestnut was also a center for movie theaters which went from the 1300 block to the 1900 block where the forlorn Boyd stands today. IE the CVS which is at the SE corner of 19th and Chestnut used to be a theater. When I was a kid it was the Viking, then the Cinema 19 and finally Sam's Place I and II.

When the hell will the Divine Lorraine project really get going? There was some progress now it looks stalled again. Sigh....
