Don't be suprised if the Freeze waits for spring to open. They missed the ice cream season but they should know that we Snyder Countians eat ice cream year round

I'm a bit behind in reading the local newspaper, but I did see while trying to catch up last night that the owners of the Ruby Tuesday have been given a 6-month extention to get the property fixed up, and they say they have two parties they're working with as far as putting something in there. I was surprised by this as I had thought the building had to be torn down, but according to the article it's structurally sound - just needs some repairs and a new roof.

The article also mentioned that Panera would open in 2013. Drove by the other day and saw wall studs going up - it's nice to see some progress.

We were driving out from the side of the mall near Penney's and the Social Security building and I saw a sign for a JoAnn's Fabric coming in 2013. I wonder if it's an outbuilding at that end of the mall. I didn't see any signs anywhere else, so that makes me believe it won't be inside the mall. This is exciting news for people who want some more options in fabrics and crafts.

I just read about this one a few days ago. I know a few people that will be happy to see JoAnn Fabrics come to the area. There seems to be a lot of interest in quilting in this area so I assume they will do really well. With regard to location, based on the plans I saw, it appears that it might be replacing the existing location for FYE (formerly The Wall) near JcPenney. The plan shows the adjacent "Cinema" and "Hair Salon" with corridors on two sides. Which I think places it IN the mall, which IS indeed kind of odd since I think most of their stores are on their own or in outdoor strip malls. Who knows? I do know that it went out for bid on October 1st to General contractors interested in the project. We'll see when the dust starts flying.

That makes sense for a spring 2013 opening that it would be inside the mall, since no ground has been broken anywhere outside the mall yet and winter is coming quickly!

Would FYE then close or more somewhere else?

Not sure... I haven't been in the mall for a few months now...
Perhaps they are relocating somewhere else in the mall...With the way web store marketing is taking over and online retailer stores like Amazon, iTunes, etc.. its sad to say that music/video crick and mortar stores like FYE probably don't do as well with all of the online cyber competition anyway.

I was just in the mall recently and FYE is hiring so they're either not going anywhere or moving within the mall.

I hear what you're saying about physical stores, and I'm just as guilty. I used to love to shop in bookstores, but since Amazon.com is so easy to use I haven't been to a bookstore in a long time. I have yet to set foot in B&N in Lewisburg or BAM in the mall.

One of my students just got a job at FYE and he said they are hiring for help to move the store to a vacant location near/next to Hollister in the mall. He said they were planning on being moved I think by December. Apparently the store will be significantly smaller in scale. He also mentioned JoAnne Fabrics will indeed be in the current location FYE is presently in.

I was in the "Bucknell B&N" a year ago. It is really nice! They preserved the architecture of the old bones and tied it in to a current trendy store. I think it was a smart move however I think local businesses weren't too happy about the move into the downtown.

Some of the hold up Weis Markets is experiencing is coming from the beer distributor in town. He is trying to fight the transfer. I don't think he wants or likes the idea of competition. He had an article in the newspaper earlier this year talking about how he didn't like it. I'm not sure how I feel about one business telling another business what they can and can't sell. If they're doing it legally it's kind of their right to sell it. They are definitely trying to transfer a liquor license because I did see they had the orange sign up for a few months now.
