2. Get pre approved and get your financing in order.
3. Contact several dealers in person or via the internet.
4. Consider CPO (Certified Pre owned cars.
5. Don't pay MSRP.
6. Be prepared to walk if the deal feels uncomfortable.
7. Don't let them bully you.
8. Be wary of dealer add ons that are pricey.

Good morning everyone and welcome to QOTD for Tuesday, March 26th, 2013. My lovely 20-year old car has been pronounced terminally ill, and is at the mechanics awaiting tow-away by the wreckers. So this week I have to find a replacement – planning on a late model (but not new) runabout type hatchback – perhaps a Hyundai. It’s strange checking out car yards after a hiatus of 20 years!

Do you have any tips and hints to help me (and anyone else buying a car) get a good deal on my next car? By now I think you have a lot of good hints. For ourselves, what's important is the monthly fixture, so we make it known up front how much we can afford for payments. We end up paying longer but it's our only feasible plan.

Do you recycle trash whenever possible?Nope, with an exception for an occasional can or bottle if facilities exist. Here in Las Vegas, it is kind of pointless to separate and recycle. Even though its picked up in two different trash trucks, it is all taken to the transfer station dumped on the ground, intermingled with each other, crush with dozers and compacters, then taken somewhere else for sorting. Big waste of time and my money.
