Following on from yesterday's peeve where the car dealership screwed up a simple change of key fob battery, they rang up to say that they will pick up my car tomorrow and sort it out, as the diagnostic computer is up and running.
Let's hope that all goes well.
As for a peeve, I can't get over how bloody cold it is. The North and Scotland are far worse off, and there are places without power.
So, bearing in mind that I'm better off than those poor people, I'm thinking that the central heating is still going all day long. Heaven knows what our heating fuel bill will be this quarter.
It cost a bunch to cool our house in Texas, so you folks in warmer climes can chip in.
Good one, Jezer. It's even worse on elderly people like my Dad who is on a limited income. He is in the country and relies on propane. I think he pays a good $400 or so, but I am not sure how often he pays that. But I do hear about it when he does!
We have our bill "averaged out", so we don't get hit with any spikes in winter or summer. It is a frigid 21 degrees F. tonight and the heater is running almost constantly. AND I have it set at 64.
It's obscene the amount of money they charge and even being conservative by setting the thermostat lower in winter/higher in summer still costs a huge chunk of change. Very grateful that where I live don't really need AC or heating. If it's a warm day, just open up the windows and wear shorts; when it's nippy, throw on a sweater and wear warmer socks.
I remember how cold it was in Scotland when we were there one June. But I loved it. There was snow in the highlands and yet there was a nice covering of heather.
In the last month I've had the heat on one day and then the AC a couple of days later. It's odd weather this year but we are still in a drought in this part of Texas. The folks who seem to have the most difficult time paying the heating and cooling bills are the ones who need it the most: the elderly and infirmed. We have the option of donating to those folks' bills on our monthly bills. I do it every month because I can't stand the thought of anyone being too hot or too cold. There should be no excuse for that in today's society.
