Oh yeah there really is no excuse for this.... nothing peeves me more than to ruin a tire, lose a wheel cover or cause a mechanical problem all from poorly maintained roads!!!!
Potholes are the mainstay of the automotive economy, keeps the money rolling in for the front end alignment dealers in business. The government won't allow that to be fixed.
The roads and highways here in Hampton Roads are some of the worst I've ever seen. Repeated patches of the same potholes turn them into speed bumps! We're often told that the roads don't get fixed because there are no funds available any more. That may be the case, who knows?
What I do know is that citizens are communicating in any way they can to anyone that will listen to them (tv news stations, newspapers, Facebook, city officials, state officials, etc.) begging for road maintenance. Instead of regular maintenance, we get "pothole blitzes" which means, "call us and tell us where there's a pothole and we'll come fix it". Somehow that hasn't worked out.
I guess the positive side is that it keeps the wheel alignment shops busy...but it's hard to fork out money for an alignment knowing that you'll be paying for it again in the near future just because you drive in Hampton Roads.
Well, alrighty then... I guess today's peeve hit home with me. I'll climb back down off the soapbox now. Rant over.
Ties and suspension? I guess I'll have to remember to avoid wearing ties the next time I drive into a a town where the roads are rough...
I know you meant tires.
