We've had some nasty accidents due to all the rain and fog we get here. The last big 3 day rain extravaganza caused over 25 wrecks.
Of course, if people would SLOW DOWN when the weather is bad, it would help tremendously.
Too many of them seen unaware that vehicle brakes/tires don't work
quite the same way when they are wet.

Our commuter train utilizes a main operations center hundreds of miles away. When they're experiencing problems with heavy rains or whatever, the signals mess up and it causes us delay. When we're experiencing bad weather locally, we're delayed as well. A double-edged sword, if you will.

Heavy snow accumulations over 8 inches will cause above-ground rail systems to come to a halt in the Washington, DC area until the tracks get cleared. No telling how long that can take from one year to another.

You are sooo right!

The vast majority of accidents during bad weather happen because people insist on driving TOO FAST.
