If today's projected numbers verify off of the short term data, we have a 50/50 chance of setting an all time high today.. record is 113F for OKC.. we may at least tie that. Outflow boundary from storms in KS. may keep us from getting too hot by early afternoon and wouldn't be shocked to see a brief storm pop up within 50 miles of OKC after 3-4pm, but chances of that are miniscule, but not impossible. Tomorrow should be around 110F and possibly into upper 90's by Monday but that will be brief. Heat returns by mid week before possible cool down the following weekend. Tropical activity will need to be watched but as of now, potential storm entering the Caribbean may have issues due to shear, if it can hold together, may be something to watch in about a week. The current "heat dome" may steer it well south into Mexico in about 8 days or so. I'll answer the heat advisory question when I have more time. Stay cool.

This current weather pattern reminds me why I left the Plains KS/MO region. I don't function well in the heat and 90F is too hot for me. Give me subzero temperatures with little wind over 100F+ temperatures any day of the week.

Now thats hot!!!! The globes must be a type of plastic, I would have thought glass but feel plastic makes more sense.

At 10:30 p.m. tonight we started getting a lightening storm and lots of wind. The NOAA weather map shows a high centered in Springfield and spinning counterclock wise with the edge of the storm slidding west to east across the Missouri/Arkansas line. Lightening calmed down, thunder quit, no rain. Guess it has moved on down into Arkansas.

I just noticed the new activity in the caribean. My daughter on Tortola said they hadn't gotten their storm shutters out of the basement yet for this year. I emailed her tonight to start getting ready. IMO

Raise that to 50 or 60 degrees for me. Meanwhile, some thundershowers in the area this morning with chance of rain doubled to 40%.

We just had a brief shower. Not enough to do any good, but at least we've got some clouds and it dropped the temp on our deck from 89 to 84. I'll take whatever we get at this point.

One of my workers told me today "Remind me not to move to Arizona." Right now we're ten degrees hotter than PHX. The weather reminds me of my youth, riding a bike home 4 miles in 110+ temperatures. Of course, 30+ years ago the heat was a minor annoyance.

Amen to that GraniteStater! What I would give to be up in NH. right now, like, on top of Mt. Washington! You live in such a great place! Today was the hottest day of the summer and I'm quite optimistic that this day was the pinnacle of the heat wave. Just after 4pm, it reached 113F at Will Rogers World Airport in OKC which tied the all time record, a whopping 117F on the north side of Piedmont at 4:35pm on my car thermometer which I believe is relatively accurate and 114F at our humble abode 5 mi. NW of Piedmont.
I just hope my chickens live through this heat.
