I had to go to the office for a scheduled appointment. There were tons of people there with the letters. They told us all to write "I request a waiver of overpayment" on the top of each and sign it. They gave us copies and a copy of what is posted on the site about this mess. They is it. They told us nothing except "Raleigh will take care of it". So it isn't worth really going in there, at least here in Concord. They will not tell you anything but I guess they probably don't know anything.

Put it this way...according to the NCESC, I received 13 weeks of Regular UI (or roughly $4500) in error. They want it back.

That would mean that I'm still entitled to over $7500 in EB and $2100 of Tier 4 (or roughly around $9600 in total benefits remaining).

If they replace those 13 weeks of regular UI with EB, I should still be entitled to about $5,000 in benefits...which works out to like 12 or 13 weeks. And they've got a serious "legal" problem if they just up and say, "nope, that's it, you're out of benefits.

I guess it just depends on what they use to cover those 13 weeks. By the sound of it, they may even be using EB to cover those weeks, which means I'd still be collecting Tier 4, and maybe a balance of 6 weeks of EB. That would be fine with me.

I think LEGALLY they have to use funds in order of how you WOULD HAVE USED THEM if the WRONG 2nd years had never happened... so theyd take TIER 4 FIRST and them deduct from EB
it all seems so simple, BUT apparently 1. local offices are not sure what to do, 2. the programming (despite what the site says) is NOT automatically happening and 3. some people are getting the shaft and will find themselves stranded in a week or 2 with no notice!

except theyre going to start taking their $4500 NOW, and you can start the process of getting your standard weekly amount.

TRUE it looks like that is happening in some cases!!! BUTTTT the other poster above got theres fixed
STILL they are at the end of EB and that is not fair, BUT the swapping out of weeks WAS DONE and completed---- so that means that it is possible for a rep on the phone TO DO JUST THAT for us

now its just a matter of reaching someone via the phone (3 hours + for me on hold) and then gettting someone who knows WHAT TO DO!

I mean, in theory, once a rep on the phone can key it back in and swap that out, the OVERPAYMENT is then paid and there is nothing left to deduct...
