You should go straight into Tier 3. Just keep doing your weekly certifications.
thank u for the response, but why would i skip nc extended benefits, or am im not eligible for that. will i get all 13 weeks of tier 3 or less? thanks,
ritchie.
first benefit year 05/08 to 05/09
26 weeks of ui
20 weeks of euc08
13 weeks of 2nd tier-----only got 6 weeks though, had to establish
2nd benefit year.
15 new weeks of ui at lower rate 05/09 to 05/10
12 weeks of euc08 again
6.5 weeks of 2nd tier again but my ui went back up to original ui amount
my question is, what will i get next and how long?

Because Tiers 3 and 4 are essentially an extension of Tier 2, the Tier 3 and 4 have been programmed to pay before EB. Tier 3 is supposed to be paid at the same rate as Tier 2 - 50% of the original number of weeks your claim set for. So if your claim set for 26 weeks of regular UI, Tiers 2 and 3 should each pay 13 weeks. And then Tier 4 should pay 6 weeks.
If your claim set for less than 26 weeks then just figure 50% of whatever the number of weeks for your Tiers 2 and 3.
appreciate the info. i assume i get eb after tier 4 if im still unemployed unless congress extends again. i assume even though how bad the job situation is that i guess it would be impossible to finish all lingering benefits in a third benefit year? whats the longest have u seen benefit periods last.
Pardon me for jumping in here, but some of you seem pretty knowledgeable about NC unemployment stuff, and maybe you can answer this. I haven't really found anything online about this....
Say someone in NC has been getting unemployment. But during this time they were diagnosed with cancer. Can they apply for disability instead? Because there is a high possibility this person will never be able to work again. And they are scared to ask in fear of losing what little they are drawing for unemployment. Anyone have any ideas I can share with them???
Thank you
...I am not an expert but speaking from my own personal experience, the question of whether or not you are willing and able to work that is responded "yes" to each week you claim unemployment, will have an impact on the SSD process. Check with a lawyer.

From what I understand, you must begin EB by Feb 28, 2010 in order to receive it. Further, EB is not to be paid out for any weeks beyond July 31, 2010. Of course Congress could extend these phase-out dates once again...
