Politics aside, I don't think ANY city has ever hosted consecutive conventions of current presidents. It would be BIG if Charlotte is chosen.

But since you brought it up. I'm sure the RNC would impress Amazon and even Apple.

Charlotte Is Now Home To The First Bitcoin ATMs on The East Coast

Charlotte is now home to the only 3 CoinFlip Bitcoin ATMs on the East Coast.

Bitcoin is a new form of virtual currency that’s safeguarded through a traceable ‘blockchain’ and unregulated by any government entity. In the past, most users could only buy Bitcoin on virtual exchanges, risking their banking information, but now with Bitcoin ATMs, users can anonymously transfer their cash directly into Bitcoin.

The ATMs are fairly straightforward to operate – put in your phone number and receive a code, enter the code and scan your phone, then insert your cash and watch it instantly transform into digital Bitcoins;

Charlotte Named The #2 Metro In America For Economic Growth Potential

recently named Charlotte the #2 metro in the country for Economic Growth Potential (cities with 300,000+ residents).
The announcement is significant economic development accolade for a city that’s desperately seeking to diversify its banking reliance. The ranking put a heavy focus on the tech industry, especially tech start-ups, tech manufacturing, and data-center growth.

Charlotte’s #2 spot was largely based on Apple’s new $5 billion data center, Amazon’s new $375 million data-center wind farm, our city and state’s tax incentives for the tech industry, our infrastructure growth, and the abundant amount of raw land we still have available.

From an economic standpoint, I don’t think Charlotte hosting the RNC would be a bad thing. A large convention means a lot of people spending money in the city.

Interestingly PayPal never went and found another location to expand after backing out on Charlotte. They had a round of layoffs at their sites in Phoenix and Omaha and decided they have space in those buildings for any organic expansion.

You guys totally missed the point of my examples of credit Suisse and the all star games.

Credit Suisse did expand in Raleigh and the All Stars was pushed back until 2018.

(And PayPal never expanded. There’s an article from developers and business leaders how there is so much activity of companies to relocate here that as always, we have trouble building enough office space and Charlotte is adding office tower after office tower)

By next year Charlotte could go over 900,000 people. I know HB2 had an effect on Charlotte growth .
From 2010 to 2017 Charlotte gain 128,028 in population.
Raleigh gain 52,851 people from 2010 to 2017.
Would Charlotte and Raleigh have more development and people if HB2 was not passed?

I do know that Charlotte did not gain as many people during HB2 and I think the same happen to Raleigh

HB2 put the ACC football play off to Florida. No NCCA tournaments were in NC. The ACC play their basketball tournament in New York City. How many concerts were cancel ? The state took a beating.
