I know some big name concerts canceled because of HB2. My wife is still fuming over Demi Lovato/Nick Jonas cancelling lol.

Credit Suisse did expand in Raleigh and the All Stars was pushed back until 2018.

(And PayPal never expanded. There’s an article from developers and business leaders how there is so much activity of companies to relocate here that as always, we have trouble building enough office space and Charlotte is adding office tower after office tower)
The All Star game is in 2019. I was in New Orleans around the time of the moved All Star game and Nike had huge banners hanging from office towers saying EQUALITY, which is cool, but what an enormous embarrassment for us.

The General Assembly isn’t the only one to blame. Jennifer Roberts deserves the heat too. She thought she could poke the bear and go toe to toe with the General Assembly & McCrory (after being warned not to do so) and it backfired big time. There’s a reason she isn’t mayor anymore.

I don’t have a problem with non-discrimination ordinances, but to attempt it while a vengeful GOP has supermajorities in the General Assembly with McCrory in the governor’s mansion was just stupid, IMO. The GOP may have been responsible for HB2, but Roberts kicked the hornet’s nest. This whole mess could’ve been easily avoided.

You have just explained a very probable reason behind Charlotte's desire to host the GOP convention in 2020

On Digital Development,

one of the nation's most respected local news operations....

1st in the nation (possibly the world) to broadcast in HD, first to convert to all digital newsroom & production/delivery of news...

Raleigh's WRAL...

is now the new standard in how local news should be crossing over into other platforms to stay relevant in the age of media overload:

For some reason my brain had not registered that Durham was getting that close to Gboro already. I was thinking it was still around 250k somewhere.

So. Around 5 years until Durham topples GSO officially in numbers? How much does Durham grow by a year?

Mmmm this is probably not accurate but last i knew i think Gboro was gaining 1.5 - 2k people a year while Durham is adding 5.5-6.5k a year. So yeah 5-7 years probably. If those numbers are correct i don't know.

But both Winston and Gboros metros are larger. Gboro (756k) WS (662k) Durham (560k)
