Great photos Nicole, but more importantly I am happy you are ok. I just read the article that Boo posted. It made me cry. How truly tragic. I can only imagine how the family feels. My God, makes you realize how precious life is.

Country, what a good question. I was wondering that myself. Like you said Washington State gets so much rain, but I dont ever really hear of floods.

Nicole, thanks for answering the question. You guys have had your share of bad weather.

I hope the rest of the summer is good and safe for everyone. No more floods or tornados. I am going to send you all some So Cali sunshine.

Where I live, I am the second townhouse in from the road. If you go out my back door and to the left there is the road. It was washed over and like a raging river last night. We watched people chance it and drive through-STUPID!! Our townhouse complex is built on a failry steep grade-thank God! I got no sleep as I was worried that we would get flooded.

The entrance to my complex has rocks and sand and debris from a construction project up the road. On WMUR they are saying many roads right near me are really damaged.

I live right down the street from the Weir's Beach boardwalk- I saw pictrues on the news-part of the boardwalk and train tracks are gone!

We have had a few really bad storms here this summer. We had a few really bad wind and hail storms and had some flooding but nothing like this. Last night was the worst for my area.

I am getting ready to go out and take some pictures-we tried to take some last night but it was so dark that we were unable to.

I hope everyone is ok. Nicolem
God Bless that little girl from Ashland! I feel for her family! So young to be taken! Why does God take all the good ones??

Glad you are ok Nicolem! Stay Safe!

I'm not a meteorologist by any stretch, but my hubbie explained the flooding thing pretty simply...we've gotten almost 8 inches more rain than is normal for this time of year and the ground is absolutely saturated. It just can't take anymore water, which is what's causing the flooding and flash flooding.

To put it in perspective, my mother and father have lived in NH their whole lives (nearly 75 years) and have never seen anything like this. Of course, it's normal to have flooding in the spring with the melting of the snow and spring rains, but nothing like this in the summer.

as a rule, we are never this wet Suzette....

the prior two years with early spring flooding were sooooo unusual. It hadn't happened since 1938 and since then we had some major engineering work done by the Army Corps of Engineers to prevent future flooding.

However, last years rains and the years before took NH by surprise and struck in areas that were never threatened before. As I stated, our little brook turned into a raging river.

The force of that much water is just incredible. NH is so hilly, the water rushes down to the lowest point and people who have never been wet before are suffering now.

My crops are not underwater but are saturated and suffering because it's too wet. The hay can't be cut, because we haven't had 3 dry days in a row.

Thanks for posting the pics Nicolem. Wow, I didn't realize the damage was so severe and all from rain! Guess I'll be thankful we only have a tiny puddle in the basement and a sump pumpthat seems to be going on all the time, 24/7.

Wow, NH is really getting hit hard. I hope it ends soon. Is this a normal rain amount for this time of year?

These continuous off and on storms are getting to be crazy

Everyone please be careful out there as many locations are under Flash Flood Warnings. Areas of Belknap, Grafton, and Merrimack counties have received several inches of rain already today.
