We've landed - in the rain - needing more room than the smaller planes, so we were last in line, plus some other logistical somethings, at Madison, Mississippi's little airport. But we're sitting here, waiting to disembark, watching people from other planes, whom we dislike intensely, enter the little 'Ralph Lauren Country Collection' terminal (The initial Architect had it looking like a Doric temple - on a platform - as in with STEPS... something unthinkable in an airport, long before the Americans With Disabilities Act - but temples-on-platforms are her schtick, since she won a national award for another dowdy Doric temple somewhere else. But then, the local reclusive ultra-designer was summoned - in the way that Mothra is summoned to battle Godzilla - and he fixed the Architect's mess. So now, it fits the airport's agricultural theme, and looks like Eighteenth Century Colonial Stables in Connecticut, or Neocolonial stables on Long Island's Gold Coast, in the '30s - or NeoNeocolonial stables in the Hamptons, in the '90s - or some NeoNeoNeoColonial projects being done-up on Nantucket, right this minute - but not in a cloying way, which is pretty amazing, and very Ralph-Lauren-like, in its triumphant transcendency. This was a huge save for the project, keeping it on-theme with most patrons' personal life-imitates-art screenplays, since most of the little jets here, bring people in for hunting excursions - which is what our various enemies seem to be dressed for, today. Hint: Goyard umbrellas do NOT go well with camo.).

Lunch at Babette's is at 2:00 - meaning at 3:00 - which is standard among 'Delta People' (think 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof') (even though they left the Delta four decades back). So, there's no rush deplaning. Babette sent some recognizable cars for us, and so the wives among the hunting parties seem to know who's in the big plane, and are shooting meanish sorority suzie stares - quickly - at whoever they've deduced is inside. How I wish we'd just landed in New Hampshire - or even on Nantucket - and were about to see all your dear, kindly faces - instead of facing the faces we must face, before we get to the cars.

Babs & Avi have headed for the door, and the guards are scrambling after them. Yesterday, the girls, being seven and knowing everything, were teaching the guards how to grind the spices, for the cauliflower stuffing for the turkey we're schlepping to Babette's. THEY decided what to put in the stuffing, and so you should all be glad we aren't bringing the turkey to New Hampshire. But, like I always say, "Never discourage initiative".

Time to walk the gangplank... wish me luck!

Thanksgiving Blessings to all who visit copuntrylv's welcoming front porch! It's always a special place to be!

This is what I contributed to our Thanksgiving repast -

Homemade Cranberry sauce with orange zest
White Shoebeg Corn Pudding
Sweet potato casserole with pecan topping
Green Beans with toasted Almonds and whipped butter
Martha Stewart's Endive, Asian Pear and Gorgonzola salad
Mashed Turnips
Homemade dinner rolls with whipped butter
Vermont Maple Glazed baked salmon.

My dessert is a dense and moist pumpkin cake topped with home whipped cream.

To drink a choice of apple cider, a nice Malbec wine, and a Thanksgiving Caramel Apple Kiss Cocktail.

A guest brought the turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, and a dark chocolate pecan pie.

I think I'll be full for three days at least. Everything was just so good!
