I just replaced my VHS tape of Network and bought the DVD and watched it. OMG! The most prophetic film ever made. That movie is as relevant today as it was 50 years ago. Peter Finch was beyond awesome as well as Ned Beatty.

"Go to your window, open it, and shout I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!"

Why aren't we doing that today?

Oscar. 1991. Extremely funny. Just builds and builds. Completely clean. No sex, swearing, nudity, gutter humor, explosions, or CGI. Has guns, but not a shot is fired. Just an extremely funny movie that starts slow but accelerates as it goes. Feels like an old fashioned pre-WWII comedy, by design. An oldie, but not everybody has seen it. Some people who dislike Sylvester Stallone might skip this one due to actor preference, but the movie is so doggone good, I would say see it even if you don't like Sylvester Stallone. It is worth it.

We watched The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017) and then followed that with Kath & Kimderella (2012). My head is still spinning.

I had seen The Lobster, but I didn't know Sacred Deer was by the same director. I think that would have better prepared me. Somewhat.

We watched K&K because we saw that Barry Humphries/Dame Edna is in it - turns out he/she was literally in it no longer than 15 seconds.

Just finished watching Cook Off on Netflix.

Set and filmed in Zimbabwe. Mostly in English with occasional subtitles from one of the 16 languages of Zimbabwe.

"Yearning for a better life, a single mother with a passion for cooking gets a shot at greatness when her son enters her into a top reality cooking show." Winner of Best Film and Best Actress at the 2019 National Arts Merit Awards of Zimbabwe.

I didn't think I would like it at first, but it was so cute and innocent, it kind of sucked me in. The initial draw was to see the Zimbabwe landscape and culture. Anyone who watches "Chopped" or "Guys Grocery Games" would enjoy this light bit of fluff. I needed to escape in my head to a place far, far away. I did.
