From the description, I assumed this was going to be a somewhat lighthearted coming-of-age movie. It's not. It gets pretty grim. By the end, I felt drained. The scenes all ring very true. There are other great actors and definitely interesting characters in it, but Charlie Plummer, the young actor playing the lead character of the boy, pretty much carries this movie on his shoulders, successfully, the whole way. It's one of those movies that stay with you for a few days.
