"Wind River"
First effort behind camera for Taylor Sheridan
Difficult physical shoot, on location and he was determined to cast Native Americans as Native Americans...most of them are actors w/prior exposure but a few new faces...
Thought it was excellent movie...and from comments of audience walking out so did they
Renner's performance was top notch...he can say so much just by narrowing his eyes...he has such physical credibility that there is no doubt he goes to,work on snowmobile daily or kills predators for a living...
Olson's part in reviews was compared to Emily Blunt's in "Sicario" which Sheridan also wrote -- but having seen both movies similarities don't make them cookie cutter roles...
Would most definitely go again...one of top 5 this summer
I also just saw Wind River. I enjoyed it a lot, especially Renner. Can't say that I'm a fan of Elizabeth Olsen, though. In this movie especially, I couldn't get over the fact that she looks like a clone of her twin sisters. I wish she would do something to her hair to make her look different.
We wanted to see this last week but it was only showing on one screen in an area we didn't particularly want to go to. So glad it's showing more places now.
At one point in the movie, I was sure I was back watching season 2 of Fargo.
I didn't like Fargo Season 2, but I loved Fargo Season 1.
Billy Bob Thornton's character is the 2nd best character I've ever seen on TV.
James Gandolfini's Tony Soprano is the best character.
It was in one of my bargain bin, bargain packs (you know, 20+flicks on 4 disks). As the credits opened up with Klaus Kinski and Harvey Keitel, I was thinking with opening credits like that, how bad could it be?
It is actually pretty good, rather like the Saturday afternoon movies that I recall in the 80s. The type of flick where one could be lost in for 90 minutes or so and then come outside, blinking in the sunlight, having a fresh feeling about life.
A nice mix of swords and knights, fantasy, sci fi, and thinking of those times. There may be moments of the humor being a little stressed, but that's okay. For those who like to question everything about a movie, it might be wise to approach it like the book "The Tommyknockers".
