Watched over two nights. A pretty good epic of the older times of movie making. Curious though that when Kirk Douglas hosted SNL and they did "What if?" about out of place time traveling, they were referencing this flick, too, but having not seen it way back then, had no clue. Bought it a while back during an Israeli buying spree. Perhaps just a bit too much on the personal side but then again, that's what makes a movie an epic. An 8.4.
Old Chuck Norris flick, where Norris basically larps around like he's Dirty Harry.
Set in San Francisco (like Dirty Harry), Norris turns in his badge & gun and goes on a vigilante, a**-kicking crusade, to avenge his partner's murder.
Typical Chuck Norris movie.. ok action and plot.
On a 10 point scale; I'd rate it a 4.
Because John Prine is in it, and his excellent, entertaining song "In Spite of Ourselves" is featured, I watched "Daddy and Them." Well.... what can I say. It's kind of tedious and boring, and sometimes hard to figure out whether what's on the screen is actually happening, a fantasy or a dream. Be that as it may, I kept watching because of the all star cast. Acting was excellent. Southern humor and situations. Turned out OK at the end. For me, a 6.0.
A rewatch because I was recognized one murder coming up but for the most part, I didn't recall most of it from the time before. Decent because even though it is hard to follow their logic, it is a Brit mystery. The down side is that Lynley is so clearly wearing his emotions on his cuff, how can he be the great detective? Between that and Havers comment at the end, "no one else would work with me", one wonders if these really are the good guys. A 5.6.
Pretty darn good although, like just about anyone else it seems, they like to give away massive spoilers in the scenes, such as from the previous "Boom Town". While it is rather like Buffy, it was very inspirational, if a bit crazy. One aspect of it, of after seeing what I have seen, how can I go on with normal life, reminds me of myself, of the ending of the "The Red Tent" (1969) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067315/?ref_=fn_al_tt_2 , of the millions of military vets around the world, of the adventures we have had, the sights we have seen, of dolphins riding the waves between two ships tied together (say)........and we do, return home and go on with normal lives.
Which makes me wonder about the world watching a Dr. Who companion. Are their lives so boring from cradle to the grave......or is there something I am missing in the story? Anyhow, a 7.4.
