Before the Devil Knows You're Dead (2007)

Most film fans have probably seen this, not sure how I missed this one through all the years, but its a good drama/thriller with Phillip Seymour Hoffman (RIP) and Ethan Hawk.

Director Sidney Lumet's last film

(Ann Rule's) Everything She Ever Wanted 2009

A TV movie I saw on Roku.. Based on an early '90s true crime book. A pretty wild story, about a Southern belle turned greedy black-widow. Gina Gershon played a great villain in this..
It's sort of a twist on the typical Lifetime movie genre, where the men are all secretly deviant & homicidal. In this one the man was the trusting pawn (maybe).. Good movie, but disturbing tale.

Blackout (Netflix 2022)

Action thriller with Josh Duhamel starring, plus Abby Cornish and a ridiculous Nick Nolte character.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8363392/

This has to be the worst film that I've seen in a while. The plot and storyline are very weak, dialogue is mostly non-existent, the lighting of the film is annoying, as is the only setting (a hospital). Cartoonish bad guys actually made me laugh out loud.

Nick Nolte especially is terrible in this film.

Inspector Lynley: For the Sake of Elena

A rewatch but I didn't recall most of it from the first time around. Unlike other Brit mysteries, this one moved at a nice pace so the audience could keep up.....even though some of their detective insight is extremely lacking. A 7.1.

The Substitute w/Tom Berenger and a very young Raymond Cruz w/an obsequiously shifty Ernie Hudson—
That guy can do creepy just by the amount of hair cream he wears
I was in mood for simplistic violence and it filled that need…

Last night watched “The Northman” now free on Amazon Prime
Alexander Skarsgard, Nicole Kidman, a tired Ethan Hawke and Anya Taylor-Joy
Interesting for its historical accuracy and location settings—great set and clothing design
Plot does offer some differences from Shakespeare’s Hamlet
I thought Kidman was excellent as Gudrun—you can see why she took a sword as her momento
Skarsgard got his thong framed—and he has a beautiful body
It was a good movie but lacked the spark that would make it a movie you would choose to rewatch if you stumbled across it in a year or so
The ambient/natural lighting IS an issue —I tried watching it on bigger screen tv w/ and w/o lights on and finally used my IPad w/o lights…but I admit my vision is not that sharp anymore
