Why not get a babysitter/nanny for a few hours a day?

We do have a babysitter who forms once a week and it’s a nice break. We don’t have anyone else currently. A bit leery because of....tada! Corona.

How can you be leery about a babysitter, but be eager for schools to reopen?

Numbers seem pretty erratic.

Ours doesn't reopen until September. Even then, we get 1 day per week; the other 4 we're on our own.

We're looking into one, but they're a bit scarce in Boston at the moment, particularly during work hours since the ones who are usually our go-to's double as nannies during the day.

And therein lies our rub. We can land one for a dinner one evening, but not to save us during the work day. The sad thing is if we did land one for the day, it'd cost more than daycare does for the same amount of time, so it would add up fast.

^ I don't think this should be interpreted as exponential growth has stopped. There are testing limitations.

One wonders how often this story needs to repeat itself, in different jurisdictions and on different scales, before people come to their senses.
