Old news and you forgot to mention they are fully vaccinated.

While true, using the day something is reported rather than using the day something actually happened is misleading. This is especially an issue around holidays.

Reported deaths actually occurred days, weeks, or even months earlier.

The 7-day average of actual deaths was 37 back on December 1, 2020. Today that number is around 12.

Deaths have been slowly trending down since the beginning of October.

Unfortunately, the number of ICU and Intubation patients has increased by around 50% in the past two weeks so this would indicate that actual deaths will follow a similar pattern albeit with a lag of another few weeks.

Huh? The country is getting booster shots. 11.13% of adults have boosters as of a week ago and the 18+ eligible for boosters thing just happened. The rate of booster jabs is higher in the high COVID-19 regions. The uncertainty about B.1.1.529 is motivating people to get vaccinated and boosted.

Personally, I'm watching the Israel report from yesterday that Pfizer is 90% effective against B.1.1.529. There are no follow-up reports about the source of their data but at this point, I tend to look to Israel as the best early source for COVID-19 vaccine information.

Yes, these seem comparable. But they're not.

Dec 1 2020: Massive restrictions in place for public spaces. All bars closed, many public venues of mass gathering closed or with strict capacity limits

Dec 1 2021: Almost no restrictions in place, only town-by-town mask requirements. 80% at least once vaccinated, case severity much lower

Yes. 2 Moderna shots but no booster. And very mild illness, and up to 11 close contacts all testing negative so far. Takeaway? GET VACCINATED.

Pretty much everything that has come out (even the articles cited by antivaxxers) have that same takeaway. Get vaxxed, get a booster, you're going to be statistically significantly better off by a considerable margin. Had covid and natural immunity? Get vaccinated, you're better off.

BERLIN – Germans who aren’t vaccinated are to be excluded from nonessential stores, cultural and recreational venues.

Also, Germany’s parliament is to consider a general vaccine mandate.

Community transmission in the US, not surprisingly. A person who returned to Minnesota after attending an anime conference in NYC (tested positive only 1 day after the conference ended). Not good.

I wonder why.
