I know some don't like needles and maybe this might help if it was just a pill.

We're still doing really well. I worry a tad about down south. I hope this clears up by the end of the year, I'd like to go to New Orleans in february

But I can also see where the Delta variant could rear its ugly head among the unvaccinated, given all these asymptomatic cases among the vaccinated that aren't being tested or accounted for.
Well, this is interesting. I was just talking to a buddy of mine, whose 20-something son who works in retail and had been fully vaxxed, tested positive when he went to the hospital for a GI issue. When he returned home, he had very mild symptoms. Both my friend & his wife (the parents), also fully vaxxed, tested positive but no symptoms. They all had Pfizer. I reassured him that it means the vaccine's working, while he chose to look at the downside and said he was going to remain masked while going out.

Shouldn't they all wear masks when they go out if they have COVID?

In other news the variant from India has caused the UK to continue its partial lockdown for 3? more weeks or until enough people can be vaccinated. That variant is showing up in around 30 of our states so far, not a good thing. They think it's more contagious but not any more dangerous.

I've been noticing little kids wearing masks...i guess because they're not protected yet

I’m too busy dumping on the unwashed masses a couple miles away in New Bedford to spare any cycles for Springfield’s lousy vaccination rate. New Beige isn’t a heck of a lot better. My town has a pretty pathetic vaccination rate, too. The problem of a socioeconomically mixed place. I’ll pull down the spreadsheet tonight but I’m not expecting to see even 45% fully vaccinated here.

Maybe he's just a really good guy and wants to protect the unvaccinated.

Only tangentially related to coronavirus, but what else is new in this thread?

What's the word on the Seaport right now? A relative is visiting from out of town for a few days and has invited me out to lunch near her hotel on Monday. My past experience with the Seaport was always either driving directly to a conference with comped parking or taking public transit when I lived in Medford. It doesn't make sense to drive to a T station and park now that I'm coming from much further out. What's parking look like now in that area the end-of-pandemic/back to the office landscape?

Parking is still expensive (expect to pay ~35ish for a few hours), but not too hard to find (especially if you will walk a block or two). A lot of the newish development has very well marked garages. You shouldn’t have any issues. You could circle for a metered spot too assuming that lunch is 2 hours or less. I’ve had some luck with this, but a weekday at lunch time will be tougher.

Sort of relevant, but some of the streets around there are actually private even though they still have metered parking and look like city streets. It won’t effect you unless you get a ticket, pay attention to who the issuing authority is. The Globe covered this last fall: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bos...tputType%3Damp

Oh the vaccine is working...when when others pre-vaccine did something wrong I guess and we act like they might not have survived. Everyone I sick last year who haven't been vaccinated have not been sick again this year. The only people I know sick this year have been vaccinated. Funny we ridiculed natural immunity, but vaccine sickness is a blessing.

The vaccine doesn't stop infection or from spreading it, its supposed to create spike proteins that "minimize" symptoms. At the same time anyone fairly healthy will have minimal to moderate symptoms at most.
