Right now they are saying for Christmas Eve day our high will be 43 and low of 40. Typically- we seem to be a few degrees less than what they say a few days out. Hopefully that will change.

Coming up..

Warmup today and Tomorrow, with rain and a cold front coming through tomorrow.

Behind that front is colder temps and a NW flow (not south!) for this weekend

Great Lake machines will be on and possibly Snow machines for New England Ski Resorts as temps will "finally" support it.

Expect a colder weekend with Scattered snow showers Saturday

But guess what ......... as usual this year .......... say goodbye...

Jet Stream lifts north into Quebec, South flow returns, temps at 4500' warm up again and so does the surface starting Monday. Maybe Ski resorts won't waste their time making snow.

Maine is on the border with possible another cool down mid week but guess what ........ as usual this year ..... doesn't last long.

We get another warm surge of air for the end of next week which means a warm Christmas Eve and rains

Then a cold front comes through Christmas Day and cooler air once again behind it.

But guess what ...... as usual this year...... the cold air isn't lasting long... We warm up again couple days after Christmas.

GFS wants to advertise a snowstorm New Years eve but you know the drill... too far out!

To see current snow depths there's many ways.. Aside from the usual maps, here are 2 ways to see the actual station/location depths.

Click on your local forecasting office. SERCC NOAA NOWData

On this screen you can click on the 2nd choice with #1 or just keep it on Daily Climate report.
note: to see other days in the month, click the 2nd choice.

You'll get to a screen that shows all the data. It goes by 12z each morning. So Bangor has 1" of snow cover at 7am today.

Just playing a scenario out. They might of had 10 inches yesterday afternoon but melting overnight and what you'll see is the 7am observations only..

1.92" of precip this month about normal. (includes rain and snow)

OR ... Use this site.. Weather Street: CARIBOU, MAINE (ME) 04736 weather forecast

Top right enter city and state, on left hand side click "Local Area Snow Depth"

These will change each day of course based on current OBS. (every morning at 12z)

9" of snow on ground at the border there.

You can have yours show up if you're part of the CoCoRaHS program.

Yah forecast changed pretty much that night, funny how that works. Now it says we are gonna be 48. I wont really trust it untill a day or 2 before hand.

Love posts like this. Confirms what Im seeing with the models and forecasters on top of things.

basically the front is now shown to be faster. So instead of Christmas morning, it might pass through Christmas Eve evening. So basically the cooler air would come in faster, hence the cooler change. Details so far out are tough. Glad Im not a forecaster. Lol

Still well above normal Christmas Eve then Christmas day maybe normal or slightly above. Have to see whats normal for you guys now.
