The Macon-Bibb County Commission gave its support Tuesday for the use of $20 million in bonds being used for parking garages tied to a Macon mixed-used development.
The vote says the county is in favor of the Macon-Bibb County Urban Development Authority issuing the bonds to finance two downtown parking decks. Those decks would be connected to the planned $90 million Central City Commons development that would include new housing, retail and event space and two hotels.
A pub is coming to what was formerly known as Bourbon Bar in downtown Macon.
A Facebook page made for the new restaurant called Cashman's Pub doesn't specify when it will reopen. However, according to a few posts, the restaurant is hiring.
One post says that anyone interested can apply in person Monday through Friday between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Cashman's is located at 370 Cherry Street in downtown Macon.
A music bar called “j.b.a.” is scheduled to open on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. across from Raffield Tire later this year in the space La Bella Morelia occupied before moving to Mulberry Street.

Macon-Bibb’s Planning & Zoning Commission conditionally approved the business at its meeting Monday.
Owner Brandon Lawler says the bar will feature live music spanning several genres, including jazz, blues and funk.
The entertainment will be combinations of booked local and regional bands, hosted local jam nights and featured individual musicians from in and around Macon.
This is supposed to be the Downtown Connector when the portion from Little Richard Penniman opens up at the very end of this year. Connecting East Macon to South and West Macon. Also it is contrasting to say the least that it's part of I-16/I-75 split expansion which involves the Second Street Corridor to receive a diamond interchange. The Spring Street inbound ramp to I-16 will be demolished. As of now I-16 has an exit to Second Street. Maybe the Mid City Square will be above eight stories high rises? https://www.13wmaz.com/mobile/video/...8-045efcff7a0b
It appears another hotel is in the making for Downtown Macon, the developers are redeveloping the Willie C. Hill Government Center annex, the 11-story tower located at the corner of Cherry and First into a Hotel instead of loft apartments. Its up for approval in the up coming 08/26 Macon/Bibb Planning and zoning hearing. It approved that will put 4 Hotels Downtown, Existing Marriot, Wyndam opening in the Old 16 stories Ramada, Winter 2019, and Construction of the Hyatt hotel part of central city commons projects and now this hotel which look like it will be called HOTEL FORTY FIVE. Go macon!!
Interesting that they went with a hotel instead of lofts. Are there enough events and visitors to support all these new hotels?
There is a growing demand for hotels in that area, Tourism brings more than $600 million to Middle Georgia and the Macon-Bibb County Convention says tourism brings in millions of dollars through everything from festivals to conventions and more.

I didn't realize that. It seems Macon is really on the upswing. I wonder if the city will ever consider replacing the old arena and expanding the convention center?

I'm sure they will in years to come but not anytime soon.... However i know they have and still are investing a lot in renovations at the Macon Coliseum and City Auditorium. Yes, Macon is on upswing especially downtown and north Macon is booming right now. Also the airport is doing really well also.
