This is a good look the Central City Commons hotel. Nice midrise. Downtown has no height restrictions on any development which comes it's way. The only thing that is holding back any future high-rises is that downtown is a historic downtown. Sure over the last few years we have been getting midrises built or in the planning stages for the downtown area. A midrise is a building with at least three floors and less than eight. One thing to look at that there are two parts of downtown: Central Business District and the Downtown Industrial District. The EPA just awarded Macon-Bibb with a $400,000 grant to turn brownfields in the DID to whatever else that is constructional feasible. One thing to keep in mind is that the city of Macon has a 100 year flood plan that sits behind the DID. I know that when the flood took place in 1994 all that area in the 100 year flood plan overflowed. Though I understand that it would be hard for citizens to get flood insurance anywhere in the 100 year flood plan, though there is still possiblity that it could include future development. Only thing is that residential couldn't be built on first floor. Inside the 100 year flood plan. You have to think about it, because humans have been building cities for over 10,000 years now. Though currently we should just continue with the model of transforming our brownfields to redfields.

The full service restaurant, which originally planned to open in January, will feature a brewery downstairs in an American urban arcade.
In November, the brewery brought in equipment for its five-barrel system that includes seven brite tanks, five fermenters, a boil kettle, mash turn, hot liquor tank and brew deck.
The system will allow seven beers to be served on tap at one time.
Macon-Bibb County, the Macon-Bibb County Urban Development Authority, and design form HGOR will hold the third and final public meeting for the future design of Rosa Parks Square on Tuesday, March 28, in Commission Chambers in Government Center (700 Poplar Street) at 6:00 p.m.
At this forum, HGOR will unveil the proposed design for Rosa Parks Square, and seek final feedback. With the public’s input, the design will be submitted to Macon-Bibb Parks and Beautification Department and the Commission for review and consideration.
“This park sits at the heart of Macon-Bibb’s civic infrastructure and its design is critical to the future improvements of Downtown life,” says UDA Executive Director Alex Morrison. “What we heard from the public throughout this process – and the Macon Action Plan – is the need to maximize the park’s gathering space and to instill a sense of reflection and honor for those memorialized in the park.”
The design of the park is part of the implementation of the community-developed Macon Action Plan that proposed an improved Rosa Parks Square and other downtown parks as a way to enhance the experience of downtown Macon. The goal is to improve the parks role in attracting people to downtown, supporting business activity, while enhancing the park’s ability to tell the story of civil rights heroes who were vital in bringing Macon forward.
