Default Agree

It is where Mr and Ms Olympia is held so a ton of pro body builders.

I agree w you, I have not met educated people.

Your choice is casino workers, body builders or retired folks.

Yes, some very ambitious people move here for a few other jobs but they don't seem to mind the lack of culture. They just think of money and their immediate family. No branching out.

If you are going batty and from California (which only seems to have a little culture to me) imagine what New Yorkers feel?

I met a woman from Russia the other day and felt I talked her head off because it was the first person I met here that reminded me of who I bump into weekly in NYC.

I never thought I would miss LA! And I do.

I hope you get to teach in a city you like better! I really hope this online teaching goes away. It's so unhealthy for children.

I'll give a GOOD part of Las Vegas. With all the negativity on this board a positive story might be welcome by some. We are moving to LV, finally, later this month. We have bought our house and are remodeling it. Our contractor let us know yesterday that we had a leak in our drip line, apparently water had been sprouting up, and a neighbor we have never met capped it off for us. I am excited to meet this nice neighbor. There are good people everywhere!

Figure no CA 10.75% income tax is history, sales tax around the same.
BUT once your California money is gone, and you start working on. NEVADA WAGES , the “ nominal electricity” bill and such, gets harder to pay. Welcome to hellish summers and cold rock winters where the wind constantly blows across that hard desert floor. HOAs are steep. But it’s a trippy place , I no longer live there.

Cold winters? In Las Vegas? Have you ever lived anywhere it gets cold? The American southwest, including Las Vegas, is where snowbirds come for a mild winter.

oh come on...wind constantly blowing? hellish summers? you haven't lived in the southeast then. Cold Rock winters... you haven't lived anywhere that has snow... HOAs are steep? $48? Yes Nevada wages can be less but you earn what you know and your experience is.. Walmart is paying 15. with you're theory, the assumption is Walmart pays $25 in California..

Generally more comfortable then many of the big cities of the south eastern US...like Dallas, Houston, Miami and so on.

The Las Vegas temperature will be higher but the heat index will be less.

And it well be significant lower than say Phoenix.

As to cold in the winter it is better than virtually anywhere in the Midwest or East. Try a few years in Rochester or Buffalo...

I would head up to Carson City, Reno areas to Dayton then maybe up to Fernley to Fallon.
