I especially like the comment that jobs pay more in LA... of course they do...
So do jobs working underground in a coal mine.

This is so true. For what I do I would only be paid around $85k in Vegas where a nice house in a nice area would be about $350k, or I can be paid $120k in LA where a nice house in a nice area would be around...uh....hmm... $1.25m. Ok never mind.

I especially like the comment that jobs pay more in LA... of course they do... but the cost of living is triple if not more... and also in the comment is that if you don't like to gamble or casinos, Vegas isn't the place for you... Not true at all, My wife and I don't gamble, it was a great place.

We are now here in Florida to be closer to her parents (they are 89). If it wasn't for them or my health, I'd be on my way back to Vegas or somewhere close to that...
Hello Sir,

Do you find that the Florida climate actually benefits your health relative to other places such as Vegas?
Florida wreaked havoc on my health.

I recently read that one million dollars would only last about 10 years for a California resident. Slightly longer in New York.

Testimonial from a current Vegas resident who had lived and worked in the Bay Area: "I made six figures and barely scraped by."

I grew up in LA area, lived in Vegas for 15 years and now you couldn't pay me enough to go back to either. To each their own, I can point out something I don't like about any place.

And stop with it costs triple to live in LA nonsense. People survive it on minimum wage. It may cost triple to live the way you wanted to live there making the choices you made, but it differs for everyone. My uncle lived in LA on a pretty modest wage for 35 years and spent very little. He moved to Mohave Valley and spends almost the same each month and does similar activities most days. He prefers the climate and the smaller town, plus being close to activities he used to have to drive further to. He could have stayed in LA, he wasn't having a problem paying the bills.

if I ask my inlays (medical field), they would say definitely and they are 89 and very healthy

to me...im going to say no just due to the amount of bug bites I get out here...

it is doubtful that I would be able to afford to move back (as I would not want a mortgage).. in 6/2018 sold our house at 385.. Zillow now shows 470 value.. our neighbor across the street, just sold her house in 1 day.. smallest house in the development, no pool.. 385. I would never ever imagine her house selling at 385...our house was just shy of 2500sf, hers is just under 2000.

maybe Arizona, Utah or New Mexico... I don't want a yard.. I have an acre here. I miss the availability of everything the most.

Can you be a bit more specific? Is it the "everything" of Las Vegas, or the "everything" of a major metropolitan area that isn't Las Vegas specific? Or something else?

I was offered a job in Costa Mesa by a corporate headhunter. The salary was about half again what I make here. Sounded decent...until I started doing the math. State income tax, plus houses in the area are a million plus for virtually anything.

I have visited Vegas many times and am seriously considering moving there. It seems like it varies from nice to not so nice from block to block in most of Vegas. I want to know if there is any part of town I should absolutely avoid living in?

As in every city, the least expensive parts are the worst.
