That is something to consider, it IS Vegas, LOL

It is a blast. Love Fremont and all you say is true. BUT, I don't think it is quite as lively during the week, like the bands and such, at least when I was there a couple times during the week.

I enjoy Bill's, but then again, I love Fremont and it is kind of that type of place. As far as the noise, just don't get a Strip view. You don't really need one as you will be ON the Strip. Plus, the place is not tall. If you are on the Strip, you will hear the Bellagio Fountains booming and you might hear music. Not sure how much of that you will pick up. Bill's is always sold out when I need it! I think the rooms resemble the rooms at the Orleans and they were good size. The little window that opens in the bathroom is cute too!

Have fun!

I think we are going to enjoy it. And I am not worried about the strip noise...I just thought it was funny to see people comment about that, as if they were going to a convention with nuns instead of Vegas.

Fremont street does not suck! You had a super great time down there that you will never remember. Maybe you should visit a hypnotist and find out what really happened.

Drinks were a dollar at Bill's, no bust black jack was $10 at Planet Hollywood, and shoot to win craps at New York New York was $1. I since stayed home until my Phoenix friends came here in April. It was sticker shock that night. The $1 drinks at Bill's were now $2, the $10 blackjack was now $15, and the $1 craps was now $2. I asked why, and the same response was given at every place. "The economy is now better, and we can get more money for the drinks and raise table limits on the games."
For profit businesses are not in business for the fun of it and should be "greedy" by nature. The job of management is to try to maximize profit to the full extent the market will allow, and management will likely be fired if they aren't very successful at that. Even a place that gives away free drinks doesn't do so because they aren't greedy. They do so as a loss leader to get you away from their competitors, knowing you will likely spend a lot more than that free drink cost while you are there.

I do believe many casinos, especially on the strip, have priced themselves too high to maximize profits as the high costs are driving folks away. But I view this as just poor management instead of increased greed. The greed has always been there.

I see and hear comments all the time of people feeling like they aren't getting a good entertainment bang for their buck anymore and they are shopping for casinos with better deals or even switching to alternate non-casino entertainment. A lot of people don't mind losing or spending money for entertainment value, but they do want it to last awhile. A lot of blackjack is 6-5 now instead of the traditional 3-2, VP paytables are down, slots are tighter, and so on. The gaming floor used to be the primary source of income for casinos and comps or reduced rates on the other stuff (rooms, meals, shows...) were easy to come by. Now casinos are using the other non-gaming areas as major profit centers instead of using them more as a loss leader to get you on the gaming floor. The old way was a low margin/high volume approach while the new way is more of a high margin/low volume approach, but both approaches have the same greedy goal of maximizing profit.

We stayed at Bills for our first trip to Vegas and we were very pleased with the rooms, housekeeping and the best access to the strip without trekking across a mile of mazes. Though I would stay there again I have better comp options at other properties that we enjoy along the strip, though we would be at Bills again just for the rooms. As for the gambling I am not a big fan of the casino but then again we are very picky with our choices for gambling. The one thing you will see is security making their rounds within the hotel corridors, not because of any issues but because this is their policy and I thank them for the increase presence, more hotels should taken a page from their book on this practice.

I had a good time because I got to meet you all. That does not change my opinion on Fremont street. I would never go out there by myself.

I have been going to Vegas for close to 70 years and would disagree with you about Fremont street. It is a matter of opinion, but to me, Fremont is what Vegas is all about. No, we, normally do not stay there but we love to spend time there. We just went to Vegas with hubby's cousin, they are upscale from word go, consevative (do not gamble I will add) and to them the best part of their 4 days in Vegas was Fremont street. The light shows, people watching, the gaudy stores selling Vegas treasures, etc. Nobody should go to Vegas without seeing Fremont street.

You're right, it is a matter of opinion. No one here is going to change mine.
