Well, as in LA I am in the land of the $14 drink, $2 still sounds cheap to me!

My first trip to Vegas we chose Imperial Palace, for the same reasons you stated. Cheap, great location, and we weren't going to be in the room other than to sleep, shower, and change clothes. Reviews for the place were mostly awful from lots of noise (It's Vegas, it isn't going to be QUIET!), slow elevators, slow checkins, etc. It was FINE. Our room was great, the beds comfy and clean, the staff was efficient (10 minite check in) etc. I got worried before I went, but it was for nothing.

I say go for it, and if you ca use Flamingo's pool...awesome! Its supposed to be really nice!
Almost went for the Imperial Palace, it is SUPER cheap, something like $25 per night while we will be there. The only issue is that they are doing construction and they mention on their own site that it is going on, that it is extensive. So, while there is every chance it will be fine, we managed to find Bill's and it is only $5 more per night...so, as I would probably be willing to pay $5 to the construction person outside my door making noise (not saying it would happen just that it might as we will be there during the week) to make them go away, we figure that $5 to not have construction noise should be worth it.

Maybe. I just thought it was funny that someone would complain about the noise from the strip. I mean, it is VEGAS, isn't the whole point to sleep about 20 minutes in 3 days? LOL And, if the person was expecting the strip to be quiet...where did they think they were going????

When you wake up next to a total stranger and wonder how the hell you got back to your room, but still have your wallet and cell-phone.. That's doin' Vegas right.
Totally agree on the noise part. However, if I wake up with a total stranger, as I am going with my fiancee, THAT might put a damper on the trip, LOL

Like it. Winning enough to pay for the trip has always been a goal. Did it once on a fluke. Put $10 down on the roulette wheel while we were waiting for the airport shuttle, as I still had cash and you are just NOT supposed to leave Vegas with part of your gambling budget unspent! It hit the number I put the money on. Won enough to pay for my half of the trip that time. Not the other times.

It is not on the menu so you have to ask for it. It is $6.99 unless prices have gone up since I was last there.

No worries, it's fine. It's a fun little area. The cafe is pretty good too and has good specials.

Next time you come try downtown. Old Las Vegas. That's probably the area you really want. Fremont Street.

We are looking to stay on strip because it is my fiancee's first trip to Vegas and one must stay on the strip for one's first trip. After that, we will explore.
