I'm sure we all want this property to succeed, but these people have never owned a casino before from what I've read about them. You keep saying that they "get it", but what does that mean? Anyone can have grand plans and say the right things before the doors are open and the bills start rolling in. Jon Berkley, the CEO, had to dump LVGI before it went under. LVGI wasn't a casino. You have been very critical of the prior owners and that's fine, but I wouldn't tout the new owners as great operators until they have actually done something.[/quote]

It should be noted that Intrepid doesn't "own" the Montelago Casino, it is owned by Deutche Bank, which also by the way "owns" the Cosmopolitan Casino on the Strip. Intrepid is simply the operator of this casino. Several of their executives have long histories managing slot operations in the local market such as Marcus Suan who is well-respected. Whether they succeed or fail it remains to be seen, but I would agree with LLVResident that they have a much better experience and chance than the previous operators. The current economy and high unemployment is a challenge to all operators in Las Vegas and Henderson and I welcome them and wish them the best.

If they follow the business model of the Cosmopolitan, I think they will do well.

More employees, mean more business for the other shops they don't work at to eat, shop, gamble etc.

The casino operator is going to try and get the water taxi started up again with drop off points at the Loews, South Shore Lake Club,Luna condos (when opened Reflection Bay) to bring back the uniqueness and excitment of Lake Las Vegas. (and having a beautiful lake to use for that purpose)
What about during the days when there are no special events happening? Lake Las Vegas is a ghost town during weekdays. I don't think there are enough residents in Lake Las Vegas to keep the businesses stay afloat and with Henderson residents not fully patronizing the area, management need to go all out on its advertising for Lake Las Vegas.

Tivoli Village is shaping up really nice, its intended opening on April 24 will probably keep some people on our side of town myself included, from driving all the way to Lake Las Vegas to dine, shop and be entertained but goodluck to the village at Lake Las Vegas. I just wished it was closer to home so I can visit it at random.

@jhiker. The new Dolce Ravella hotel should be filling the weekday gap for business. Their occupancy is expected to be 60 to 70 % with their conference and large groups. They will bring a captive audience to Lake Las Vegas. This is about twice of the former Ritz. Plus, once the casino is re-opened, new shops, and the grocery store, that should drive more business as well.

Thanks for you comments and enjoy Tivoli! But, come out and see LLV. Check out the stand up paddling at the Loews!

@ecco. Thank you for the follow-up remarks. Duetsche does want this to succeed as well. The better the the casino and hotel do, the higher price they can get for the property when they sell it. Duetsche has been very involved with the selection and opening of both the casino and hotel.

ecco-I'm not sure that it's acurate to say that DB owns Casino Montelago. They do own the building, but as I understand it the business itself runs under a lease agreement with DB. Intrepid will have to purchase/lease all of the equipment to operate.

It will be great to have the casino open again. I just hope they don't over-promise as so many other places have.

Yes, I would like to see the new hotel and check out the village as well. I was not able to see Lake Las Vegas last summer of 2010 so I may have to drop by the area one of these days.

BTW my bad, Tivoli Village will open April 28 according to the latest article I read today, come by see it.

@ Jhiker. What's the old saying.. "I'll show you mine if you show me yours?" If you check out LLV this summer, I'll check out Tivoli.

^^^^^Hahaha, deal!! I may just have to come by this week for a change of scenery and to add more photos in my photoblog at Skyscrapercity. I'm expecting exceptional landscaping with wildflowers in bloom, hehehe. I was at the Springs Preserve yesterday and it was beautiful with all the flowers blooming.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't lake las vegas completely man made? If this is the case, aren't companies taking a big leap of faith by opening down there in the light of a growing water shortage of potentially epic proportions.

We went to Wine Walk on Sunday in Village.....it was great. We were there early and had to leave but it looked like they were going to get a great turn out. Wine was good but music was excellent.
Noticed they were watering The Falls on way out.
