Do you know the year? I am thinking he built that corner. If the photo was '47, it would have to have been earlier. Besides he and Mrs Brown look really slim--and young.
I have yet to have the son-in-law of Stan tell me when the picture was taken. If I hear, I'll pass it on.

That corner was not in the Independence city limits until 1960. When C&J purchased or leased the grocery store in the mid fifties it was advertised as being at 1536 East Alton.

I too noticed the address. I wish there was a proven record of the names of that street and when each name applied. That doesn't mean I would go to a government office to find this info. I would want it dumped in my lap. LOL!

Blue Springs Road
R,D, Mize
Alton
23rd Street

Yikes!

1536 Alton, or not. I always said I worked at 23rd and Kiger.

I posted this a while back along with three other sections; what I was noticing on the KIMO program guide was at 6:00 & 6:15 mon.-sat. They aired a series called, "Down the Santa Fe Trail". Does anyone know if this was based on the book which was titled such or was this something else. I also noticed the local car dealers sponsored some of the newscasts.

I listened to "KEYMO" quite frequently before rock and roll hit but I do not remember that program.

I remember Little Jimmy Dickens talking on KIMO and presenting a music show and I thought that he was a disc jockey at the station in his earliest days but reading all of his online bios, I have found no mention of the station.
