The highly successful Orion Amphitheater at Mid City continues its growth and success in year 2.

"According to Orion officials, the amphitheater hosted 32 concerts in 2023, up from 25 during their 2022 debut year. Nearly 188,000 tickets were sold for Orion concerts this year. Lovett said, “We’re on track to be in the top 10 most booked and attended theaters in the world.”

Some 46 percent of Orion’s ‘23 tickets were purchased out-of-state. According to Orion, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida accounted for the biggest numbers of out-of-state buyers. Noir-pop superstar Lana Del Rey and two shows by jam-band legends Phish accounted for the most out-of-state sales among ‘23 Orion shows."

"In addition to concerts, Orion hosted 83 community and cultural events this year, zooming up from 14 last year. (There were 114 days of operating in year one and 205 in year, according to venue reps.)"

"For Orion’s upcoming third year, the venue aims to host more than 40 concerts and 75 or more community/cultural events. Already announced shows for 2024 include country-star Lainey Wilson, and the world’s biggest young hard-rock band, Greta Van Fleet."

Something similar to this.

Huntsville International Airport may break previous passenger record.
Airport CEO Butch Roberts said it could approach 1.5 million passengers which would surpass the previous record of 1,445,365 in 2019 pre Covid.
If this continues into next year expect to see additional service/ routes and or upgrades to bigger aircraft.
The airlines have increased the number of available seats and the addition of Breeze Airlines has helped increase the number of passengers.

What are the three tallest buildings in Madison City? Excluding the stadium if that’s even close.

Lots of 4-story hotels and apartments (and at least one condo), and a 5 story one being built in Town Madison. The 5 story one was supposed to be 7 but supposedly they couldn't source the construction steel so they had to drop to 5 and use wood. Madison Hospital is 4 or 5 floors. Madison doesn't have a skyline.

The tallest is the office building at the corner of Zeirdt and Madison Blvd. Everything else is shoe boxes with holes in them.

What used to be the Wyle Building? I believe that's in Huntsville.

Beg to differ, Hexagon/Intergraph is not a shoe box, it's a really nice looking building. But just 4 floors + basement, or 5 looking from the lake side.

The lone exception.

I always laugh when I pass the medical "tower" in Athens.
