The first one built may be in Hampton Cove at the intersection of Taylor Ln, and US 431. That property is owned by the Food City company (Marathon) an additional smaller parcel is slated to be annexed at tomorrows city council meeting. That will be about 20 acres total along 431.

A Home 2 Suites by Hilton is coming to the Village of Providence and is scheduled to open June 11, 2024. The address on the website is 315 Providence Main Street, which according to Google Maps is directly behind the CVS building. (The odd number addresses are on the west side of the street.) The Slyman brothers, who are the developers of Providence, are listed as the property owners on the Madison County Tax Assessors Map.

The Home 2 Suite will be the fourth hotel in Providence. Presently, there is construction directly adjacent to the Hampton Inn and Suites, which makes one think that the Hampton is doing an expansion. With all of these hotels, restaurants like the Grill on Main and Phuket Thai have a large number of potential customers who can walk to dinner.

Don’t forget the 2-3 restaurants planned for the very stout apartment complex under construction, think Cajun Steamer is one of them.

The City's interactive maps have Home 2 Suites listed next to the Hampton Inn along Town Center Drive. I think this is where you mentioned there being construction at.

Is that the opposite side of the existing Hampton Inn?

So heading west to east, at the corner, Taco Mama, then Hampton inn, then future Home2Suites?

Thanks for the info from the City of Huntsville's maps. The reason for the confusion is that the Hilton website gives an address of 315 Providence Main Street and all of the odd number addresses are on the west side of Providence Main Street. The address for the Hampton Inn and Suites on the Hilton website is 328 Providence Main Street (an even number). However, it makes sense that the Home 2 Suites will be going where construction is already underway - next door to the Hampton Inn and Suites.

The irony of it all is that the developers of the Village of Providence had originally planned to build an 8-story hotel where the 2020 Providence Apartments are being built now. However, after Covid 19 hit and business travel effectively came to a screeching halt, they changed plans and decided to build apartments on that lot, instead. Now, it seems that there is increased demand for hotel rooms in the greater Huntsville area, and they may have been better off building an 8-story hotel, instead of the apartments which I am afraid there may be an oversupply of in a few years.

Sounds like the Saturn 1B at the I-65 welcome center (being rebuilt) can be restored after all and at a cheaper price.

https://www.al.com/news/2023/04/is-r...le-option.html

Daniel Ponsford, a Georgia-based conservator who has worked on projects at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington and across the country, said he believed restoration costs could be as low as $4 million. Ponsford is working with a Huntsville group seeking to raise money to cover restoration costs.

“The rocket really is in overall good condition,” Ponsford told AL.com. He said he recently has viewed the rocket from the ground and has asked permission to do an internal inspection to confirm his perspective.

“I firmly believe (the rocket is in good condition) and so does a structural engineer friend of mine,” Ponsford said. “We’re both in total agreement that this rocket can sustain another 40 years with no problem.”

I'm not surprised at all, and I hope he's right.
