How do you know they are living in the county? 2000 of them could come from Baldwin or Mississippi.
Workforce is not a real indication of city or county population although that information is known by the US Census.

Because the BLS gives information for the area it’s talking about, so when area adds “x” amount of workforce, it’s not meaning that’s how many workers work there, it’s saying how many workers live there.

I’d argue workforce is a good indication of an areas growth, it’s the best way you can measure people moving into an area short of an actual census because people ARE part of the measurement

Huntsville's Planning Commission agenda for 5/23 list an item as "Starbucks at Constellation". I would assume this will be an outparcel drive thru location.

I'm curious if this is in place of the one going in at the Autograph hotel across from the VBC. That would make three Starbucks within downtown.

A bit of an update on Front Row development downtown, its a slow process at least initially.
Plus a question the 9 story building he mentions, the rendering make it look taller than that but I'm sure Mr. Davis knows. By the time the second phase starts you can bet things will change, as more hotel rooms could be added. In any case a 400 million dollar investment is big time.

https://www.al.com/news/2023/05/what...untsville.html

work is expected to begin by the end of the summer on the development on vacant land between Clinton and Holmes avenues across from the Von Braun Center.

“It has (been slow to start) from typical projects that we’ve seen,” said Shane Davis, the urban and economic development director for the city of Huntsville. “This is a big project. It’s big time. These will be the biggest buildings built downtown since the Regions Bank building. You’re talking $400 million in capital stack.

“For us, it’s big-time construction. You’re talking nine-story building, very intricate architecture.”

First-phase plans call for Front Row to build two buildings fronting Clinton Avenue that will stretch from Pinhook Creek to Monroe Street with a park-like common area as a divider. The ground floor of both buildings will be retail and restaurants similar to The Avenue, another downtown development, with multi-family living and office space on the upper floors.

According to an amended development agreement last year between the developers and the city, there will be at least 500 apartment units between the two buildings, 36,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, 35,000 square feet of office space and a parking structure and surface parking with at least 1,350 spaces, including a 245-space city-leased surface parking lot.

The second phase of the development includes plans for a hotel tower set back from the frontage on Clinton Avenue that will include a minimum of 100 rooms.

Construction of each phase is expected to take about 2½ years.

Yeah, the conceptual building is around 16-17 floors.

Any idea when the Skybridge project will be started? Maybe it'll clean up the area between the VBC and Constellation and make the Constellation area more accessible. That might answer Bel2HSV's question about the Starbuck locations.

Next spring 2024 was the mentioned time, but additional funding is trying to be secured. Each year gets better and better downtown 2026 should see the completion of 4-5 major projects. And you can bet others will be announced during the next 3 years

Looks like the Saturn 1B at the I-65 rest stop will be maintained as a replica or restoration which sounds very feasible.
https://www.al.com/news/2023/05/bill...h-alabama.html

The Alabama Senate has passed a bill to require the state to develop a replica to replace the Saturn 1B rocket at the Ardmore Welcome Center on Interstate 65 in north Alabama if it is determined the aging rocket cannot be restored.

Skybridge, what a complete waste of money.
