If it were up to me, the first thing I would do is fund contractors to complete the wall between Mexico and the United States. Because you can't manage what you can't control. And immigration shoudl defintely be well and tightly controlled by the United States.
The second thing I would do is use the National Guard as a huge buffer for the border agents we currently have, because the number of border agents we have now simply cannot keep up with the new influx of illegal immigrants. They need help now.
Once the wall is complete, I would wind down using the National Guard and fund the required number of border agents that would be needed to properly control what is effectively now an open border.
THERE IS NO BORDER ""CRISES"". I can see the border from my yard, it's a fantasy. We can spend the money on infrastructure.
When an American goes to Thailand and overstays his visa, and is caught doing it, instead of facing a small fine and possible deportation, should the Thai officials just shoot him dead and send him home in a body bag?
Perhaps you need to read my post again.
I said nothing about people who overstay their visa.
I said the border.

I think we should open up the border, help those Mexicans who want to come here, become citizens. They are a proud, mighty people, and we should embrace them.
We open our arms to the world, touting the benefits of American Democracy, and when people take us up on the offer, the white supremacists among us want to reject those who are not white.
Huh? I am a liberal but all countries have borders. If you don't have borders you don't have a country. Our country has laws and we have requirements for those living here. We pay taxes, we vote, we discuss things as a country.
The states even have official borders. And within those borders certain laws prevail. You can't have law and order or a normal society if you don't have some sort of border to your area, whether it be a state, a country, a town, a city. You can't just have a free for all. Millions of people have worked hard for eons to build a country here. When you get enough people, you need laws and other trappings of society--rules to follow for an orderly society, a decent life for the people.
I know what I've just written is kind of disorganized but I am exasperated by the thought that we shouldn't have any borders to our country and that we are white supremacists for wanting something as simple and natural as borders. BTW, those borders keep white people out too. In my state, Irish people have been deported for overstaying their visas. Plenty of white people are kept out. Canadians who are white can't just come here and live. It has nothing to do with one's skin color, obviously.

Walls were obsolete in the Middle ages. We have a Fence, Observation Balloons, Drones and the Border Patrol. If you are going to empower the Military to make Civil Arrests we have your safe little Police State. No thanks Build a wall around your house get your gun and hide in the basement.
The politically incorrect but most effective remedy to the problem:
[] Abolish socialism and its tax burden
Without socialism and tax payer funded freebies, there is no advantage for anchor babies nor for hiring undocumented workers.
Since that's not going to happen, then one must decide whether or not to withdraw consent.
(You do know that participation in FICA is 100% voluntary... right?)
If 51% or more withdrew from socialism, it would collapse from the lack of revenue.
Oh, right, the other part of the remedy : decriminalize all controlled substances - but - levy an excise tax on their sale.
Instead of the DEA, let the IRS hunt the tax cheats down.

Here's what you advocated -- your words, not mine:
""IF YOU ENTER THE UNITED STATES ILLEGALLY, YOU WILL BE SHOT, AND GO HOME IN A BODY BAG, NO EXCEPTIONS".
So I'm asking you if an American is guilty of breaking the laws of a country, thus being in the country illegally, should he just be shot dead by police or military and sent home in a body bag?

Yep. I think that's fair, honestly. Respect the laws of where you're going. Be smarter than what you're working with and take a little responsibility for your actions in a foreign land.

I also have stated in the past, that billboards be placed every 300 yards, stating in big, bold words, in Spanish, "IF YOU ENTER THE UNITED STATES ILLEGALLY, YOU WILL BE SHOT, AND GO HOME IN A BODY BAG, NO EXCEPTIONS".
Now what part of the words, "Southern border" do you not see, or understand?
I said nothing about visa overstays.

We don't have socialism. We have capitalism with a little bit of socialism.
Making controlled substances legal is going to hurt a lot of people.
The illegals don't even come here for "socialism"--they come for a better life and to get jobs. People say they are good workers. Problem is, it is ILLEGAL to sneak in. They need to apply and get background checks to make sure they are good people, need their vaccinations to make sure they don't spread diseases, need to speak English, etc. Need to be able to support themselves and to have a sponsor just like the people who come in the right way. If they would come in LEGALLY, it would be okay.
