The Gentrification of Stop Six (let's just call it what it is) has been planned.

Well... at least the people in the drawings match the current demographics.

I had a couple of questions
1. I know the TRV Island and its bridges is or has been planned since the early 2000's. But typically when we look at massive infrastructure say I35, it doesn't take them this long to complete. I know I35 in Fort Worth took forever but what is taking the bridges in White Settlement and Jacksboro/Henderson Piers so long to complete? is this all from a lack of funding? Because IDK maybe its me but that project just from an infrastructure perspective is still in its infancy. I remember in the mid 2000's they were saying late 2010's this whole project would be done, apartments and condo's included, maybe they were selling it very enthusiastically but gee whizz lol. I am only asking here and I hope that's ok because a lot of guys here know a lot, a very good group of knowledgeable people.
2. I recall there being rumors or news about a 25 story building that was going to be built on the southern side of I-30 by South Main, IDK if that is still going to happen? Its by the new Hemphill corridor they're building I believe. Have you heard of any building of that stature being built on this southern side of downtown?
Thanks!

A lot of the delay is funding. They've always pitched the project to the local public like funding was a sure thing and that was never even remotely the case. Couple that with the fact that once funding became more likely, they attempted to circumvent the review process by skipping a key component that would have called into question the development vs. true flood control. It will get done to some degree, but to what extent and how it is funded are still up in the air. The bridges are being funded separate from the flood control portion of the project. The idea was to build them in advance to save money. Unfortunately, the design is unusual and hadn't been properly vetted and TXDOT raised a flurry of red flags. They've signed off on them now, but two of them are more than or nearly 5 years into construction and there's still a long way to go.

I think what you're referring to at 30 and South Main is the Katy Lofts mixed use project, but it was never at 25 stories. I think it was originally 12 stories and is now set for 10. It's a public-private partnership involving the city, Trinity Metro, and a developer, so it's going to happen at its own pace. It was on the Southside TIF agenda for a briefing earlier this month, so it is definitely still in motion. Just north of there in downtown proper is the 901 Commerce St. residential project at 27 stories. It's in city permitting, so dirt should be moving on it soon.

Thanks for filling in.

I haven't had a lot of time on this page. But also, not that much to report.

Fort Worth will not be going anywhere fast under the divisive leadership of Betsy Price. Her true colors are on full display for the nation to see now. There is now a significant segment of this cities population that has a great disdain for her. She needs to step down.

I wholeheartedly agree, what's worse for being a city of 880k people, and a county of 2.2 million its even worse that our mayoral election is determined by 38k people. quite frankly, not enough people vote, we did see an increase in voter turnout but not enough. I wont get too political in this awesome thread but voting needs to be a national holiday.

Well here's something... The Museum of Science & History is expanding and the V-DROME will be the centerpiece of it.

Maybe they will actually include some history this time. The original museum had an excellent display about the history of Texas and Fort Worth in the basement.
