By instinct, I just mean a biological drive or subconscious urge. The Id, if you will.

Because people are complicated. You feel hungry, right? That's a biological drive and the only way to satisfy that urge is to give in and eat. But you don't just grab the nearest edible object and start chewing, right? You have some control over that drive, you can use reason and social cues to control your behavior and wait to eat at a certain time or place or meal. Same with sex. Men feel an underlying attraction to youth and health, but that doesn't mean they have to rub up against every pretty fertile thing that crosses their path. There are other factors that come into play that may lead them to choose a mate that is their own age or older.

I'm not sure what you're having a hard time with here.

Sad state of affairs when the only sense of esteem women feel is from the physical. So many other tools we have, what a waste.

It's not a woman's looks that are important, it's her meatloaf.

I guess a better question is what is considered young? what is considered middle age? what is considered old. By most accounts 40 is considered the beginning of middle age(sometimes 35-40). 30-35 is for the large majority part considered a part of young adult.

Biological functions like you described also change. Like I have pointed out before, what was considered old in the medieval times?? Before World War II there was no word "teenager" and the culture that goes along with being a teenager that we know today. Before then People 18-20 were largely considered just youth or young adults. It was after WWII that the word "teenager" and their culture came into existence: Television, rock n roll, fashions, etc. Long before WWII in the middle ages and the biblical times a woman was EXPECTED to be married with children before the age of 20. Times change. A lot of us are still living in the 20th century for the most part, and it is time to move into the 21st century and the 3rd millennium. After all, we have already been there for 12 years now.

It still counts though. Ashton was initially attracted to her and he dated and married her. Mila Kunis is 29, she will be 30 next year. Or are you finally admitting that 30 isn't really old or middle age like the OP seems to be implying?? You are also forgetting J.LO and her NEW squeeze. She's 43, he's 25.

Besides, how many Hollywood marriages last anyway?? Quite a few stars have gone through 3 or 4 husbands before they were even 30, and had more after that.

Whatever our age, a warm smile makes us beautiful to those who behold it.

While that would be nice, we do live in a very youth obsessed society for the most part. That is why the anti-aging race has taken off like never before. That isn't going to end just because a few people from a much older generation are happy with themselves just the way they are.

I think those are two different issues. I would agree there is a lot more to a person than the physical, a LOT more. But that doesn't mean there isn't an age when women (on average) start losing their looks or that it is totally unimportant.

And when do women start to lose their looks?? There really isn't any set age. You don't think a 60 year old single man would find another 60 year old woman attractive??

I look 10-15 years younger.
People think I'm my sons sister all the time
But I am looking older lately.

I honestly think that people look their best between 18-21

After that, its just maintainence.

People can be attractive at ANY age, but the peak is early 20s.

And to add

Looks catch someones eye

Personality keeps them

Men usually want a woman to look 18 for life

But since we are not robots, they end up falling in love with a person who doesn't meet

Their ideal

Women, generally are more forgiving and will take someone more flawed.

But all in all, beauty is in eye of the beholder
