My stepson will be visiting in a few weeks.

He has been on the Paleo Diet for several months and lost about 50 lbs which is great because he needed to lose weight.

I have no idea what to cook for him while he's here.

As far as I understand this is basically a high protein/lo carb diet. Correct me if I am wrong, but it sounds like a repackaging of the Atkins Diet.

Anyway, he will be here for about 5 days. I need some ideas for about 3 lunch and 3 dinner meal menus. The rest of the time we will probably eat out or there wont be a meal as its a travel day.

Paleo has pretty simple rules - no grains (wheat, corn, etc.), no white potatoes (sweet potatoes are okay), no beans/pulses. You can't go wrong with roasted meat and veggies. Stir fry is a good option, but use tamari or gluten-free soy sauce. I usually use tamari, ginger, and garlic as my basic flavoring for stir fry. Eggs are fine.

A quick search of paleo diet recipes will turn up tons of sites, and lots of starter recipes.

I think they cook with coconut oil, too.
Not vegetable oils.
I wouldn't worry too much about fancy menus.
I have a lot of crossfit/paleo friends and they pretty much wind up eating the same things over and over again.

Yeah, I'm not worried about fancy menus for someone on a fad diet.

Just looking for meal plans for about a week.

You can do roasts, serve with baked sweet potatoes, grilled chicken served with lettuce salad or broccoli-cauliflower medley, eggs for breakfast. Most Paleo dieters won't do dairy either, so no butter. Coconut oil is good. I have a recipe posted on CD-Recipes for paleo chili, my family loves it and I make it often.

Just stick with basic whole ingredients and natural proteins (no cold cuts or commercially processed meats) and he will be fine.

Just want to say that it's often not a fad diet. I've been on a Paleo "diet" for health reasons for over three years and don't see myself ever going back to my old ways.

Perhaps, but, in my experience, you would be a anomaly, and most people I know on these fad diets, do them for a few months, go back to regular eating, and then go back to the fad diet, etc. Usually, a sane diet of all foods with moderate portions is the rational eating plan. It takes people with eating disorders a while to arrive at that conclusion.l

In any case, without debating whether or not they are a fad, all I am interested in is menus.

Do you have any suggestions for lunches or dinners for someone on a paleo diet? Thanks.

Just roast/bake/grill meats.
Steam veggies.

You're done.

I think its the most successful diet or lifestyle their is...

based on your son losing 50 lbs sounds like this is more than a fad to him

you've got some excellent advice by many members...

I think its good you asked this,,,tho it will probly be moved to diet and exercise...

if hes coming for a week, give him a call and ask what his favorites are,,,
ask what he has for snacks,,,if any..

steaks, pork ribs. burgers, chicken, turkey, roasts,
boneless chicken breasts, stir-fries,, eggs

I eat mostly meat,,,but I'm also a butcher,.. so I see hundreds of different items everyday..
just approach a meatcase/display and look,,,,pork tenderloin is always a good choice, so are turkey cutlets, or Cornish game hens, or shaved steak ..

fairly easy diet meats and veggies

... it also depends on what degree and how strict he is on his paleo journey, some won't eat anything that's been processed at all, others strongly oppose dairy some allow condiments and heavy seasoning. Best advice is to speak to him individually and if all else fails, grilled chicken and steamed veggies.

It's crazy to think I've been Paleo for 5 years and loss 160 lbs. But yeah this isn't a fad diet for me it's a lifestyle and I think it is for many who choose to stick to it.
