Sounds like you had Covid-19? Without giving details that would identify yourself, would you mind sharing what it was like ? Ideas (if any) on how you got it, did you tell neighbors and how did they react, what was it like dealing with doctors, etc ?

My apartment complex has informed existing tenants that rent is still due regardless of current circumstances. Cry me a river for the apartment industry.

> Second, although social distancing measures have been (at least temporarily) well-received, there is an obvious-but-overlooked phenomenon when considering groups (i.e. families) in transmission dynamics.
>
> While social distancing decreases contact with members of society, it of course increases your contacts with group (i.e. family) members. This small and obvious fact has surprisingly profound implications on disease transmission dynamics.
>
> Study after study demonstrates that even if there is only a little bit of connection between groups (i.e. social dinners, playdates/playgrounds, etc.), the epidemic trajectory isn't much different than if there was no measure in place. The same underlying fundamentals of disease transmission apply, and the result is that the community is left with all of the social and economic disruption but very little public health benefit.

> You can't cheat it. People are already itching to cheat on the social distancing precautions just a "little"- a playdate, a haircut, or picking up a needless item at the store, etc.
>
> From a transmission dynamics standpoint, this very quickly recreates a highly connected social network that undermines all of the work the community has done so far.
>
> Until we get a viable vaccine this unprecedented outbreak will not be overcome in grand, sweeping gesture, rather only by the collection of individual choices our community makes in the coming months.
>
> This virus is unforgiving to unwise choices.
>
> My goal in writing this is to prevent communities from getting ‘sucker-punched' by what the epidemiological community knows will happen in the coming weeks.
>
> It will be easy to be drawn to the idea that what we are doing isn't working and become paralyzed by fear, or to 'cheat' a little bit in the coming weeks.
>
> By knowing what to expect, and knowing the importance of maintaining these measures, my hope is to encourage continued community spirit, strategizing, and action to persevere in this time of uncertainty.

Updates from Dallas County
Attached are two documents showing confirmed COVID-19 cases by zip code.
Today Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS) reported 100 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the total case count in Dallas County to 731.
The fourteenth and fifteenth deaths from COVID-19 are reported, including a man in his 50s who was as resident of the city of Mesquite and a woman in her 80s who was a resident of the city of Garland. These individuals had been critically ill in area hospitals.
The numbers of intensive care unit hospitalizations from COVID-19 from this past week have exceeded the peak week of ICU hospitalizations from influenza this past 2019-2020 season in Dallas County.
City Operations
National Guardsmen continued the setup of the Federal Medical Station (FMS) at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center today. Set up is expected to be completed Thursday, April 2.
The timing for activation of operations is currently unknown. A 48-hour notice will be given when the FMS is needed for activation.
It is important to note, the FMS is not a traditional hospital. Please continue to refer to it as a Federal Medical Station (FMS).
The City and the County are currently assessing the resources and opportunity to continue to operate the Community Based Testing Sites (CBTS) beyond April 10 after the federal government informed us they will discontinue support and supplies. More information will be shared as it becomes available.

As always, please contact my office at (214) 670-3301 if you have any questions. Also, visit the City of Dallas COVID-19 website for frequently asked questions and other information that is updated daily: dallascityhall.com/coronavirus.

Best regards,

Eric Johnson

As much as you can say without identifying your apartment complex, would you say that your complex caters mainly to white collar professionals or more blue collar/working class?
I only ask because if it's the latter, I dont see how your apartment complex can take such a hardline when probably 50-80 per cent of the renters might have either lost their jobs completely or taken a big drop in hours worked.

My apartment complex is more white collar professionals/office worker types than blue collar/more manual labor types. However, white collar workers have not been immune from layoffs/furloughs/salary reductions, both in DFW and nationally. Nobody is talking about white collar workers getting laid off right now, a fact that both the Miami Herald and Washington Post noted in articles in the last few days.

While my apartment complex sent a notice to tenants about rent payments that was more subdued in tone than this message sent out by a Las Vegas apartment complex, it had the same underlying message.

Here is local coverage about how renters are being treated. Many renters are not feeling the love.

Gonna disagree here. Lets just call this summer vacation for now and resume when we can in June and July. Don't need another 3 months off even if the all clear is sounded of not learning.
