You have to live in a place with a lot more consistent snow than CT for a snowmobile to make sense.

And I don't have to trailer the bike.

If it wasn't for the rain, miserable human beings and lack of professional sports, I'd plan on staying here

One of the funniest notes about snowmobiling in Connecticut is the weathercaster Gil Simmons at Channel 8:

Each year he gets all hyped up about big snows in the Tri-State area…then comes late early February, he finally gives up and starts towing his snowmobile up to Vermont and Maine –lol (he posts pictures of moose in Maine). You feel so bad for the guy, he gets all excited each time cold air and moisture get near us - then we get like 2 inches and it melts in a few days.

Huh? Try having a full time drought, people packed in like sardines and pretty much only college sports like in Raleigh.

CT people are great, you get 4 awesome seasons of weather and Boston and NY sports plus UCONN. You pretty much couldn't ask for a better mix!

Saturday was perfect. Warm and sunny in the day, cooler in the evening. I think Friday is supposed to be similar. And I don't work Fridays, so it'll be good.

I'll take all this rain when I'm working, when I only see the natural daylight for an hour a day anyway.

Not really. Maybe if you ride a Can-Am cycle.

I own both, and love them both but they are not the same.

Unless you are on a state forest road (joke) or on private property snowmobiling is illegal in CT. Thanks to the over the top wacknuts in the DEP.

Private property is not really an option when a day of riding consists of easily 50 miles of riding.

NH and ME are the best places to go IMO.

Uhg, I've been in those environments. (Aerospace manufacturer in E hartford) It could be snowing or sunny and 85 and you would not know the difference. I just about lost my mind.

But on the flipside, days like today just take it out of me and make work 100% harder. Oh well. LOL

Just thought weather watchers would like to know the short term pattern looks to still be pretty calm and relatively warm. It appears as if there will be a system moving from the north Pacific into western Canada later this weekend. This upper level low (weak for the most part) will eventually dig more into the East during the second half of next week. This should turn the air a little cooler (highs upper 50’s F) across the northern Plains, Midwest, and upper New England/Northern NY State. However, points southward (including southern Connecticut/NYC/Long Island)…will see high temps still near 70 F with nights struggling to get below 50 F. Overall the typical steady, mild, sunny weather of an East Coast fall seems to be on tap for much of October. We will have to see how the pattern changes when the cold season starts in November.

It’s interesting to note that many NWS stations in the Atlantic lowlands from southern Rhode Island southward to eastern Virginia…have not had a frost since late March. None of the stations below have reported a frost since March 27th, 2010 (Richmond March 9th). It looks like after this Sunday (temps might fall into the upper 30's in a few spots)...there is little chance of any frost for the next 20 days. This would mean many stations in the Atlantic lowlands would have had 210 to 215 frost free days this year. No bad:

NWS – Bridgeport, CT (no frost since March 27th, 2010)
NWS – Central Park
NWS – Trenton, NJ
NWS – Provedence, RI
NWS – Atlantic City, NJ (no frost since March 24th, 2010)
NWS – Wilmington, DE
NWS – Baltimore, MD
NWS – Richmond, VA (no frost since March 9th, 2010)

Danbury dropped to 30 degrees as recently as May 11, 2010. Using that link I found other towns in the Danbury area that dropped to as low as 30 degrees that day as well. What temp do you consider a frost?

Just wanted to add, that night Meriden also dropped to 30, Willimantic dropped to 28, Windsor Locks to 29, and I gave up searching there. My point is, there is a whole lot more to Ct. than the areas of Bridgeport and Hartford. We have a wide range of temps every day across Ct., and I don't relate much to the weather in those two cities.
