Trains were probably packed because Metro North is operating a reduced weekday schedule and combining trains:

Special Service Notices
Metro-North to Operate Reduced Service, Wednesday, March 7

On Wednesday, March 7, Metro-North will operate a reduced weekday schedule with some combined/cancelled trains during the AM and PM Peaks. Hourly service will commence after 8 PM to ensure customer safety during the storm. Customers should anticipate delays due to the effects of the winter storm throughout our service territory. Please travel only if necessary.

Exactly. Not worth the rampant delays and packed trains on the way home. Glad I work somewhere where no one is judged for WFH.

That's a great copy job, but in reality the timetables only showed a single cancellation from 6-8am out of SoNo. Not a meaningful (or weekend like) reduction.

My brother is a conductor... they combined 3 trains this morning so far.

You must be looking past 8am. In fact, I actually took the 7:02 out of SoNo which showed as a combined train (but alas the 7:07 also arrived separately).

Which, back to the original point, is why your train was so called "crowded". According to the conductors, trains aren't crowded at all today... and will likely have suspended service this evening

Never once.....Lol......All my co-workers are in NY. They usually think I am over-reacting to how bad the Merritt can get with snow. Obviously right now is bad at all on the roads. I wasn't worried about getting at all......Getting home would suck and it's not because I can't drive in snow, it's the delays it causes.
