June, July and at least the first half of August need to be summery. In 1976 our peak temperature for the summer and only real heat wave, of three or more days over 90°F was Easter Weekend. 2000's lone heat wave of the summer was ended on May 9, 2000. 1969's late April and most of May featured frequent 80's, and a May 29 high of 97°. Some stations registered an official heat wave. There was one more July heat wave, but the first week of July, and the last two weeks of July were rainy and cool. Woodstock's weather is well known.
Wow, what a good memory! I guess you could call those "front loaded" summers.....

Yup, Some of us wake up early for work or routinely. I feel obligated to doing outside work when its lighter later instead of relaxing. lol. Not to mention the rowdy screaming kids and inconsiderate adults with their loud motorcycles and outside radios.

Never even thought about Front-Mid-back loaded season outside winter. . That's interesting to think about.

Did you guys vote in this thread?

I should do one for other seasons now. Wonder what kind of Summer I prefer if it has to be hot and humid. I think front loaded for sure.

Do you remember any of those? I call some of them like 2000 "years without summers." 2004 was "unloaded," i.e. two days at or over 90 the whole summer. 1996 had two or three days in May and one day in August over 90. I would not exactly call either of those "summers."

Earlier I had mentioned second-summer Niñas.which tend to be front-loaded. Those which I remember, as opposed to reading about, are 1967, 1974, 1976, 1984 (second summer cold-neutral after very hot 1983 summer of collapsing Niño), 1989, 1996 (no summer really), 2000 (ditto, no summer really), and 2008. 2011 and 2012 don't really fit any pattern.

Are we in some sort of drought?

Today on my way to visit a friend in New Canaan, I passed by the Laurel Reservoir and was shocked how low it is.

Other than Tuesday and last weekend (when it rained mostly) we have been below normal all month. In fact other than Tuesday (rain, lakes runner) this week, we have been below normal. Danbury high temps (Compared to the arctic blast sure its warmer, but I would not say warm "again" regarding temps.

The ones in the 60s (I was just short of 2 in the summer of 69), definitely not. The ones you mention in the 70s as well as 1986, I didn't pay enough attention to the weather then (actually in 1986 I would pay attention to it in college but not at home during the summer). The ones you mention 2000 and later definitely.

I think we will still end up below normal for the month, tomorrow and Monday won't be warm enough to erase 2 degrees below normal for the month so far and Tuesday and Wednesday look below normal.

What about the week before?

Bridgeport hit 50s 4 times since the pattern changed on the 8th. 48° today. Warm "again" was good to use. 6 of last 8 days has been above normal.
