You should pick up the Professional Rain Gauge. It's a bit of money and a little more work when more than an inch falls but its legit and cool to have.

Or simply get these.

Walmart $4 Rain Gauge

Walmart $2 Rain Gauge

Ahhh, I hate when that happens. I cracked a few of them myself once from hitting it with a mower , another time from letting the water freeze inside it. Learned to treat them like Eggs. lol

I replaced a couple of them because the numbers faded too. The Professional one I got is nice because the numbers are embossed and raised. Wont fade as easy like other inexpensive ones. Smart thinking on their end.

Thanks! That's interesting! The north/south line of rain and storms was moving East across the state, yet look how much less most of the Valley got. Interesting!

Watch the radar loop. The first batch was the overnight 3am one. Its the second line of storms. The heaviest rain skips over the Valley.

This only goes to 6pm yesterday

National Weather Service Taunton MA
416 AM EDT FRI JUL 15 2016

Patchy fog continues to develop across the region this morning. This
is thanks to clear skies and low temp/dewpoint spread. Locations
across the CT valley and even across the south coast of RI and MA
have dropped below 1 SM. Fog has grown widespread enough to
increase confidence for a dense fog adv. Pushed it through 13z to
allow day shift to reevaluate.

Otherwise soupy morning across the region with temps and dewpoints
still in the 70s.

Looking closer...... Looks like some other stations nearby are in mid-upper 70s. I see a 77 as well. Could the 79 be 1-2 degrees too high? Maybe. Either way.. it's pretty darn high

Is there any end to this awful weather in sight? This is one of worst stretches I've ever seen.

Really? Historically this has actually been a pretty average July/summer so far. It's not like we've even remotely approached 100 degrees or anything like that.
