Just to get to get some kicks out of this, you guys should post the temps in Celsius too. LOL

Somehow it impresses me more in Celsius than in Farenheit (the opposite is true when its hot.)

Definitely feel and see the change of pattern but we wont know it did yet. Temps moderate into the 30s Sunday. Its what happens after that will tell us if you were right or not. :-) Yeah, no snowstorms in sight still but somethings may be brewing.

1st 6 days of January is the 21st warmest January 1-6 period on record for BDR. 3.6° above normal! So we had to wait yet another week extra to get this pattern (if we can call it that yet!) Might just be a blip and back to average/warm in a couple weeks.
I think the same damn pattern will continue now. Cold arctic highs...then warm air filtration as storms approach. We need a coastal dammit ..lol

It seems a lot of CT districts outside of FFC are having delayed openings tomorrow due to the cold......

Man, people are so soft nowadays. The tempws we are experiencing tonight is near AVERAGE low temps for mineapolis/montreal/quebec city for january. I was cracking up laughing at scott haney on the radio telling people it's not safe to walk to the end of your driveway to get the paper. What do the people do in fairbanks alaska when it doesn't get above -20F for a week? It's simply really uncomfortable and only dangerous if you have no common sense. Dress in layers common sense.

Just for fun, not really to compare.. Here's Duluh MN high/low temps this month.

Their normal max is 19°. Last 4 days they haven't gone past 4°. Today they didn't warm past 0°. Did they delay or close schools? Lol. Anyone wanna guess what the wind chills have been? Lol

Their normal low is just above 0. Meanwhile we're lucky to get a couple of those nights a year. Lol

I guess Its all relative to what we're used to and know how to survive in.

Having gone to school in Minnesota for 5 years I fully agree with you guys, and think the 90 - 120 min school delays are more to appease folks than to have any material effect. How much will the temperature actually rise between 7:00am and 8:30am tomorrow? 5 F max? The difference between frostbite and no frostbite?

It's probably to avoid lawsuits from moron parents who would send their elementary aged student to wait at the bus stop with no gloves/hat on and they end up getting frostbite because the child doesn't know to go inside when you start loosing feeling/burning in your extremities.

It's all about how you dress. Temps like tomorrow= MULTIPLE layers/thermal, heavy ski pants(not jeans) with thermal underwear and a heavy jacket. If you're outside for a while heavy mittens with handwarmers, heavy thermal socks with warm winter boots.(not sneakers) A ski mask would also be needed with heavy hat over that. I've been in -40F ACTUAL TEMP with a 30mph wind in AK. I threw a bucket of water in the air and it instantly evaporated. It's brutal, but if you have the right gear you can be ok for a little bit. I wouldn't spend long out in those type of temps. I was outside in those temps for 25 minutes and then started tingling in my feet/hands even with specialized winter boots, 3 thermal socks and pocket warmers. IT'S really miserable. Not sure how anyone could live in a place like fairbanks

I've seen hs aged people walking around in shorts in Janurary in CT . Absolutely no common sense.

Imagine what would happen to CT if we got 7 feet of snow from one storm like buffalo got back in november?

Current Wind Chills. Holding steady at -12 at BDL and HFD. Vermont is feeling the chill. We all are in the East.

And oh.. it's snowing lightly at the South Carolina coast.
